Iowa State might not be great, but they are light years better than this Rutgers team that probably won't get an FBS win this year.
They were never Juggernauts but they are embarrassingly bad!
Their pass O isn't any better.
QB overthrew a lob pass into the diving arms of a wide open BC DB.
The replay showed a very routine play, nothing crazy. Dude just collapsed. I've never seen medical personnel remove equipment off the player on the field before. This is very scary.
That continued keeping-or-handing off slow mess by the RU offense is just begging for tons of turnovers coughed up.

So, coach gets $6.8 million more if he’s fired this season vs. next year. Seems like that’s an incentive to tank the season and get fired sooner rather than later. I know, coaches don’t think this way.

I read an article about that in the wake of UMass last week. Their football funding is literally D2 or D3 bad. Athletic revenue and funding as a whole is absolutely trash. The fact that they generally suck in everything now and always have makes it seem pretty pointless they even have athletics. How they survived at all before joining the Big Ten is beyond me. Why the Big Ten even took them is also beyond me. The school itself isn't bad from what I understand, but they seem completely devoid of interest in athletics. My (albeit) limited first hand experience of Rutgers grads seems to confirm that.
Around the Midwest the identity of your college is tied to your athletics. Not every college elsewhere is like that.
If he has much of a buyout, they probably can't afford to buy him out. Besides, who are they going to get better.....
And supposedly they're like 500million in the red or some crazy number. If they fire him without cause, they probably have to pay the next coach by the hour minimum wage. Maybe they can set up some kind of MSU level scandal to run him....
The MO/Ks border war has always been pretty big here in KC with both states bordering the city. Used to be bigger when they were both in the big8/big 12th.
I heard they were over 200 million in debt and don't even fully start to get their B10 revenue share until next year.
Yes, start.... as in they've been in the conference for 12 years and haven't yet been receiving their full share of the B10s annual revenue.
And that is because they were in so much debt around the initial date that they were supposed to start getting their full revenue share, that they actually got the B10 to LOAN them in advance and that forced them to kick the can on when they'd be able to received their full revenue share.........
Rutgers is only hanging in the B10 because of the academic side of things.
Why couldn't they stay in the B10 as an academic member, and play sports in other conferences?
I've never understood this f***ing narrow-minded way of thinking.
Rutgers needs to pound the table and lead the charge to reform the Big East football conference, and they could get a decent G5 level conference that fits their level of talent and enthusiasm for competing in athletics.
Why not a conference like this?

Rutgers
Buffalo
Connecticut
Massachusetts
Delaware
Temple
Army
Navy
James Madison
Old Dominion
Definitely fits for the region and has plenty of similar sized schools.
Rutgers and Maryland were ridiculous additions to the BIG. It was all about money for the conference based on a dying TV model. I wouldn't be too surprised if, within the next five years, rather than a super conference colleges go back to regional conferences.
