IC looks like the best team in the western suburbs.33-7 Final. I don’t believe DePaul had a first down until the 3rd quarter. Have to give credit to #9 on DePaul. He had both INTs and solid coverage on a few plays against IC’s bigger WRs. Despite getting beat on a few plays he didn’t let them get him down.
Their defense was fantastic. Bowen is a beast, and have to credit their O-line and skills players. There might’ve been a pancake block on every offensive play when the starters were in. Last observation, but despite throwing two INTs their backup QB looks like a future starIC looks like the best team in the western suburbs.
I left during the first series of the 4th quarter. Was he also making some good throws?Their defense was fantastic. Bowen is a beast, and have to credit their O-line and skills players. He had a few nice throws and some nice runs when he was pressured. Can’t fault him on the first INT where the receiver fell. Second INT was on his first long ball attempt. Not the best throw, but defender also made a great play on the ballI left during the first series of the 4th quarter. Was he also making some good throws?
It's possible that they're in a four-week stretch (DePaul, Leo, Laurence, Viator) in which their starters don't allow a score. I'm looking forward to seeing how they hold up against Loyola thereafter. He had a few nice throws and some nice runs when he was pressured. Can’t fault him on the first INT where the receiver fell. This isn’t meant to start the debate, but I’d be surprised if they play certain starters against LoyolaIt's possible that they're in a four-week stretch (DePaul, Leo, Laurence, Viator) in which their starters don't allow a score. That's a possibility I hadn't considered. They did it a few years ago, and some people on this board got a little salty about itThis isn’t meant to start the debate, but I’d be surprised if they play certain starters against Loyola
Didn’t want to bring it up this early to not rile up that group. May delete my comment tonightThat's a possibility I hadn't considered. They did it a few years ago, and some people on this board got a little salty about it![]()
I would expect by then their focus is beating ByronThis isn’t meant to start the debate, but I’d be surprised if they play certain starters against Loyola
I don't see much upside for IC really going for the Loyola game. Even if they play everyone, they're probably three-score underdogs.I would expect by then their focus is beating Byron
Which is the same mentality they had last time and sat most of their starters.I don't see much upside for IC really going for the Loyola game. Even if they play everyone, they're probably three-score underdogs.
If I was their coach, I probably would've done the same thing.Which is the same mentality they had last time and sat most of their starters.
That's...something. so if you know it's unlikely you can win then why bother trying? If I was their coach, I probably would've done the same thing.
Not exactly. You don't need the win. You're a pretty significant underdog even if everyone plays. You're playing a school six times your size, making the chance of injuries higher than usual. To me, the priority would be making sure everyone's in good shape for the playoffs.That's...something. so if you know it's unlikely you can win then why bother trying?

Great message to send to teenagers, we can't win so we're not even gonna try.
Look at it this way: in the seemingly inevitable playoff matchup with Byron, does having gone for the game against Loyola give them a better or worse chance of winning? This is HS football, not the art of war.

Topic change. Is it possible that any of IC’s top five receivers could start on any other 3A team in the state?Headed out to this one tonight. I like IC by three scores.
What other way is there to take that message? If that’s how you take it so be it
To clarify, are you suggesting that IC's fifth-best receiver would be at least second best on any other 3A team?Topic change. Is it possible that any of IC’s top five receivers could start on any other 3A team in the state?
Worse. They won't be tested at all until Loyola so the starters will get plenty of rest. Then when it comes to the one challenge they'll face prior to Byron you suggest sitting them since they have no chance of winning. Poor take. You should habe been around here when it happened last time and IC got roasted.Look at it this way: in the seemingly inevitable playoff matchup with Byron, does having gone for the game against Loyola give them a better or worse chance of winning?
I’d say so. Without knowing much outside of watching them play a few times this year I’d say their top 5 are #11, #9, #7, #19, and #1. I’m confident all would start on any team. I believe 3 of the 5 still have 1-2 years left to play tooTopic change. Is it possible that any of IC’s top five receivers could start on any other 3A team in the state?
Yes. The choices would be 11, 19, 9, 7, 1. One of those would have to crack the number two spot on another 3A teamTo clarify, are you suggesting that IC's fifth-best receiver would be at least second best on any other 3A team?

I’d say 11, 19, 9, and 7 could easily be WR1s. I’d say #1 would be a top DB (safety) on any teamYes. The choices would be 11, 19, 9, 7, 1. One of those would have to crack the number two spot on another 3A team
