Terribly coached game, the boys were not prepared. The clowns were hungry, ready, and aggressive. Iowa was caught off guard and couldn't match it.

We've got a lot of good tape to improve off of this. But these Ferentz September Slumps suck.

I was worried about ISUs D. It's a funky alignment that made it very difficult to run. Brown looked fairly sharp passing for most of the night so that gives me hope for the rest of the season.
They were selling out on the run. It’s obvious KF/TL are trying to put Brown in situations to be successful (lots of runs, high percentage passes) etc, but when it came down to it, Hank moved ball enough to get scores.

Iowa State is very well coached. This series will remain close every season. If they could hang with us with a collection of G6 misfits, they will continue to win their share as they build up Big 12 talent.

Iowa not being "up" for this game has been a recurring problem throughout the KF era.....and I'll never understand it.

However, in this era of NIL…will they really get “Big 12 talent”…whatever that is?

I expected our team to come out bully them based upon the last two years and the decided advantage we had on talent and continuity. I’m glad we won but that was a dogshit coaching job in terms of preparation and game plan.

They run a scheme on both D and O that will serve them well in the Big12. ISU once again has found a good coach. Problem as always will be keeping him if he's successful.

From a confidence reason alone it was a big win but still a lot to figure out. Why they could run the ball better than us when I thought that would be our biggest advantage. DJ only getting 2 catches and Diaz with 3 yards in the 2nd half...too many punts not getting caught and leaving us with crappy field position. Goal line offense still a major struggle also.

Always easier to get up as the underdog. We’re rarely the underdog in this rivalry.

Good lord did he miss a ton of deep shots

I'd have to go back and watch again but the only two bad misses on deep balls i can really remember was the go ball to RVZ that ended up 5 yards out of bounds and the first post to Diaz on back to back plays in the first half.

He tried to get Diaz on one 50/50 ball in the first half that got batted away and underthrew one in the 2nd half when he got hit on a blitz and Diaz got held trying to come back for it. I don't put either of those on Hank.

We came into this game ranked with most expecting Hawks would dominate. Coaches and players had very limited knowledge on what to expect from ISU. We got punched im the face early, went down two scores, can't the run the ball, refs were letting ISU punks get away with some really dumb ****. Pressure was at its peak and our guys didnt panic. They buckled down and came back to assert themselves as the better team in a tough situation.

Something tells me ISU spent all of fall camp prepping for this game, with one week prepping for SEMO, so all their eggs in the beat Iowa basket.
Coach clone (whatever his name is) was pretty pissed/bummed in post game. He could hardly stay around to finish answering questions. 😆 Some yeah whatevers, they'll be fine, is that it and out the door. 😆
