Hank looks much more comfortable after the long completion to Diaz. Although he does appear to have a single read. I don't think you yank him just because. Next week you can let Heck have more snaps

Not if Hank keeps hitting the long balls.
1) Sincerely, explain to me "just because".
2) Plural ????

Can't pull him early now with Hank gaining momentum but if he starts 2nd half way he did 1st and Iowa gets behind you can't be afraid to put Heck in. This was an even competition supposedly but seems like Hank has been giving a lot of the opportunities.

I don't personally see a reason to have Heck enter right now so in my mind it would be a "just because" substitution. He hasn't turned the ball over (yet, did mishandle one sneak and then dribbled on a draw) and the game is essentially where it was when it started.

If they didn't take Brown out after those first 4 garbage drives I don't see them doing it now...I feel like this competition is over unless he stumbles massively.

He had his moments, but his scrambling skillz seemed to regress.
He earned the start with his arm ... but, if the HC is listing them as co-starters and doesn't really mean it, I think that can hurt morale.
If they had lost that game without giving the "co-starter" a shot to salvage a win, that would be sending the wrong message imo.

Brown is fine, and he's KF's guy--the conservative game manager. Hecklinski will never play again unless Brown gets hurt or it's garbage time. Hecklinski has a much higher ceiling, is a much better athlete, and a much better runner which, as we saw last year with Gronowski, adds a huge dimension to the offense. But Hecklinski has that gunslinger, take-a-chance tag, and KF wants no part of it.

It was quite the QB competition. Brown looks horrible in the open scrimmage while Hecklinski looks great. Two weeks later Brown has miraculously passed Hecklinski and is given the start. Hecklinski plays and does well, but is hampered by dropped passes and questionable play calling by Lester. Then Brown gets most of the reps last week in practice, plays the whole game vs. ISU, competition over. And some people think Lester runs the offense and chooses the QB. LOL

This has KF's fingerprints ALL over it. Brown is adequate, probably. At least he's probably better than Jake Christensen. But then he was anointed by the same guy who started Deacon Hill and the same guy who named his son QB coach and offensive coordinator. You figure it out.

I think I figured it out. You bet on Iowa to cover last night and you had your mind made up that Hecklinski is better based on one pratice. Hank played better last week and played well last night.

How exactly do you know any of those claims about Heck? He has all of 18 pass attempts at Iowa and 2 rushes. From what I've seen he's very good at throwing off his back foot. I'm also not sure how the "gunslinger" tag came about but there's almost no evidence to support that claim either. You've seemed extra on edge last night/today. Iowa won, no one is seriously injured, and next week more things can be ironed out. It's all good.

Hecklinski did not look good against NIU. The offense operated much more smoothly when Brown was in the game. I don't disagree with everything you said, but it's clear why Brown is QB1. This is not as controversial as KF's previous QB dilemmas. But I do like Heck, and chances are we are going to need him at some point, so I hope he continues stay prepared and have the attitude that he may be going into a game at any moment...

It would be a bad coaching decision. The game was close, could go either way. Hank was playing okay and the offense was used to him. You want to put in a new QB with that situation? That would be very bad coaching.
