Mlodzinski terrible again as a starter.
He was a serviceable starter (Bucs were 8-3 in his starts) and his era was 3.76 but dropping as he was pitching better. When they shifted him to the bullpen he was pitching as well as anyone on the staff and, IMHO, Keller should have gone to the pen to work out his problems but management wouldn't do that due to the contract they signed him to.

True all that.

Would Mlodzinski have "kept it up"? Who knows
Did Mlodzinski more or less crater after being moved to the pen? He pitched well enough in the pen, but who knows what his mental state has been - we know he got very "pouty" when he was taken out of the rotation the first time.

Another wonderful showing by the Succos! You know how bad the team is, and the "we don't give a shiit" attitude of management, when you trot out the likes of Davis, Yorke, Trilo, J. Gonzales, etc.

At this point, they’d have to win out to make the playoffs so I think the goal here is to try and get to 500. But if I were them, I would also be bringing up two or three Young arms from the minors and giving them a couple starts the rest of the way. I would let Ashcraft get one more and then shut him down for the year so that he has an extra for a couple weeks to rest after throwing way more innings than he ever has before.

Agreed--Mlodzinski is another example of someone they screwed up IMO. He needed to stay in the rotation as he was one of our better starters at that time. Now he's a disaster like basically everyone else.

Skenes sucks again
just checked the box score--80 pitches in 4 innings with only 3ks simply isn't acceptable for someone with his ability
I'm not even sure why they're pitching him while trying to baby him at the same time

He needs to go work with someone like Tom house over the winter. I think his torso tilt us a little bit off from last year and that’s why he’s missing with so many more pitches up and glove side.

Well the Giants out-mistaked the Pirates allowing the Buccos to escape with a 13-12 win in likely the worst pitched game of the year.

Happy to see 75-75 right now.
We take what we can get
One thing the Pirates need is to learn how to win. The losing part is embedded into the Pirate's culture. It's almost as if we expect failure. I think I saw a little more fight in them this year, but that could be wishful thinking.

Skenes + Jones + Ashcraft gets you 60% of a staff. Can Kellar pitch better next year? Carmen M.? Bring in a pitcher? Elevate from Minor Leagues (does not seem likely). Mason Montgomery in Relief.

Cruz, Konnor Griffin, Valdez, Reynolds, O'hearn, Gonzoles, Horowitz, need to most likely replace Brandon Lowe.......... not terrible. If Pirates can get an infusion of talent comparable to the infusion in 2026.....should be better in 2027. Need Cruz, Griffin to be healthy.

Next year was always the year that the Pirates had a shot. Add Chandler to your rotation, but take Keller out as I don’t think he’ll be here next year. They need to get a left-handed starter to put in between some of these guys to break it up a bit so that their entire staff isn’t all right handers to throw hard.
It’s probably still a little too early to get Murph gray in as the third baseman, but they’re offense, if they stay healthy, should be very good next year

forgot Chandler.......so right he is a foundation piece.......... until he goes to the Mets. ; )

I am a realist with the Pirates, but the talent is on the upswing. Keep the bigger bats healthy add one more starter........ one more outfield bat a bat at 3B.......... the team is going to be competitive and they have to be until they lose Skenes, Cruz.........

I was there on Tuesday night. Disappointing display of baseball prowess.

Handed runs to the Brewers early. Shot themselves in the foot when they had an opportunity to score and be competitive against a really good starting pitcher.

Bullpen (Soto, I believe) got booed when removed from the contest.

Cruz struck out 4 times, all while holding the bat behind his head.

Sigh
