Miller, O’Donnel, and Ferri all start in their first year playing. 3 top subs, Narleski, Nussbaumer and Moorhead also in their 1st year.

(Miller and Narleski were both out injured their true freshman years)

two other starters are in their 2nd year as well as the other two top subs.
Right anyone who says this team is anything but inexperienced just hasn’t been paying attention.

The whole offseason chatter was around the inexperience.

For what it is worth, this is what I was told about the status of #17 Imme De Leeuw.
During the week she insisted that her knee did not "feel right."
An MRI revealed she has an ACL/meniscus injury.
Does this add up to you?

Richmond is 4-1 and only lost to dook by a 1-0 score. Sunday is not a sure win.
The only positive from yesterday is that we shot ourselves in the foot many times. Things we can certainly control moving forward. Will most definitely need to put together a fully focused 60 minutes.

This team needed Floor and Imme badly. Just too bad how it all shook out. Let alone, we were hopeful for 3 All Americans to be back on the field for a 5th year.

Hate to hear of a possible ACL injury for Imme. Prayers for a speedy recovery whatever the injury may be.

This year is going to be one that is up and down. We have to remember that this team is very young with a lot of players who returned who did not play that much last year that are starting now. Then you have to factor the freshmen that came in. They are still learning and adjusting to the college level. There are going to be some growing pains. One thing I do know about the players on this team is that they do not like to lose. The staff doesn't like to lose either. This is going to be a learning experience for both the players and the staff. I expect them to bounce back on Sunday but it will not be easy since they will be on the road. Go Heels!

It does not have to add up. The main thing is the player knows how body is feeling and only she will know. If she is saying that then there is something still wrong and it is up to the doctors to find out what is going on and try to fix it. We do not want to rush her back if she is not ready. She needs time to heel up properly. He health is more important right now. They will have to proceed slow and with caution. Thanks for sharing.

We are still hopeful for those 3 players to return. Just waiting on final judicial decisions.

Huge relief we pulled that out. I’ll keep it short and sweet - our confidence is broken (for a full game). We are simply a few plays away each game from being undefeated. It’s all there, they just have to stay focused and composed.

Did Reese make it back into the game? Hopefully she just needed a minute to walk that one off…

I wanted to take a moment to commend Ella on how well she’s been doing this season! It’s a slippery slope to imagine where we may be without her… A fourth year, who stuck with it and steadily improved with each season. I am so happy for her! Hopefully we will see her for a fifth year!

Gooo Heels!

They are going to be up and down this season because of what was stated earlier which is: the players are mostly freshmen and sophomores, and a lot of the starters this year played only a little bit last year and they are playing in positions or they are now asked to step up with little or no playing experience from last year which equates to them having confidence; however, they are showing improvement each time they play and they are slowly gaining confidence which is a good thing. I am just glad that they won.

General observations for a Sunday evening...

After UVa scored their 7th goal against JMU, they looked bored.

Cal Bears may be having themselves a year.

I still hold NW in the lowest possible high esteem. NW 2, Miami (OH) 0.

The emerging Demon Deacs are exerting themselves even without Lauren Storey (late 2025 regular season ACL).

We started 2 grads, 4 seniors and a junior yesterday. Only one freshman started (perhaps the most talented player). Not sure why I keep reading here that it's such a young team? There are certainly chemistry issues, but it's not all caused by youthfulness or inexperience.

And go look at how many of those players have been full time starters before.

Out of the starters yesterday, Barbacci, Golden, Ferri, Miller, Courtright have never been full time starters prior to this year. That’s half the starting lineup. The top reserves are also not experienced players.

You can say make the argument, it’s not a young team, but it’s certainly not an experienced team. There’s no way around it.

Six games in against this schedule, it's time to move on from that narrative IMO. Inexperience doesn't explain some of the disturbing problems I'm seeing with this team lately.

It’s not a narrative. It’s the truth. The whole offseason chatter was about the lack of experience. That’s not going to change in 6 games.

Not sure what you mean when you say this schedule, we’ve played 4 ranked teams out of 6.

What’s causing these problems then if it’s not inexperience? Lack of multiple high end talents? Because that was also a central point of discussion during the off-season.

Everyone knew this would likely be a transition year. And the fact that our two Dutch recruits, who probably would have been amongst our better players, aren’t playing is making it worse.

You’re the only on this board saying this. The whole offseason chatter was about the lack of inexperience. That’s not going to change in 6 games. You’re acting as if the season still isn’t young.

I'm saying there are other issues with THIS team. BTW, ODU's average level of starter experience (by year) is 3.1. UNC is 3.4.

Again, as I said, while we have some older players starting, many of them have never been full time starters or even notable reserves. They don’t have much in-game experience. So, that stat means nothing. We lost over 70% of our scoring from last year.

It’s no secret this team is lacking multiple experienced high level veterans. What are the other issues you think are plaguing this team?

Does WF have more upper class players on their team or are they like us with a ton of freshmen and sophomores that played a little last year? That will make a huge difference.

When we say inexperience I know I for one and maybe others are saying players who may be juniors and seniors but they barely played last two years because they just was not ready. That is what I mean when I use the word inexperience. Let's be real. The juniors and seniors that are starting this year did not play at all their freshmen year and a some their sophomore year with the exception of Charlie Bruder. Last year some of them played only a little bit which means there maybe older for classification is concerned but playing college lacrosse means that are still learning and growing which in my book is inexperience. As a result of little playing time to no playing time, it is very hard for them to adjust from barely playing or not playing to now being thrust to play a lot of minutes this year and now you are relied upon to do a lot of things this year which is blame cannot fall squarely on the coaching staff. I would say some of it falls on them but some of it falls on the players too. You cannot teach game speed when you are not playing the last two years. So this is what I mean when I say inexperience.

Here again they are inexperience on knowing how to close out games and this is the main problem right now. All games that they lost was OT games. They did not know how to close those games out because they have never played in a game where they had to do that which again falls on lack of experience.
