GBN//WWS is another one in the DuKane that is interesting, mostly to gauge where GBN is truly at this year. I was somewhat surprised by their playoff run last season. The St. Charles East loss was tough.

I appreciate it's not a killer week. Still, MC vs Pat's and Iggy vs Rita seem like stretches to be included in a list of top games.

Yes, Pat's is 4-0, but the combined record of the teams they have beaten is 5-11. Iggy vs Rita is interesting, but it just doesn't seem like a top game to me. Rita has yet to beat a team with a winning record at this point.

I have Zee Bee fever. I wanna see how far Zion Benton can take it undefeated. Lake Zurich will be a test for them (they lost big last year), but they beat Stevenson by larger margin than the Bears did.
Have not seen Zion, but I have some thoughts on LZ. In the LZ-Stevenson game, I actually saw a little spark in LZ that I have not seen in that program in years. LZ was down 14-3 with about 2 min left in the first half and things were really going south for LZ at that point. Then, they somehow drove almost 80 yards in that time frame with passes (of all things) capped with a nice 20 yard TD pass with 2 seconds left in the half. In the 3rd they received the kick and drove 80 yards for the go ahead score and played LZ defense the rest of the way. Granted, this was not the McNamara Stevenson team from the 2007-2013 era, but still, I did see a spark in LZ. Also, LZ’s front 6-7 on defense is excellent, but the secondary is young and they were playing way too close to the line of scrimmage in games 1-2, which explains the huge plays they were giving up based on poor angles. Once they get the defensive backs to play better angles and get more experience, they could be a very good defense in the end.
