My dad was a mechanic in Lexington back in the 50's. He used to work on Monte's car. He said the same thing. Total prick. On the other hand, he also worked on Mick Tinglehoffs car and said that he was a real humble, good human being.
Being in Tampa now, I know a guy who used to run into Monte at a 7-11.

As for the ole miss fans. Fans are fans some will feel like he screwed them by leaving some won’t and accept the fact he took the potential better job. My beef with lane is how he treated the players with no meeting with them to explain his reasoning for leaving and the way he told the coaches he wanted ti take to LSU be one the plane , if not keep your *** in Oxford. Lane is a very good coach but he is not the best person.
Monte was a family friend. Don't mistake competitiveness as being an a$$hole. I had nothing but positive experiences with him and his siblings.
But sometimes we don’t see in a friend what others see because we ignore the part that others see .
My post may lead one to believe that my uncles only knowledge of Monte was through high school competition. They also happened to be at UNL at the same time. Unfortunately my uncle passed in 2022, so I can’t ask him to elaborate further on how he came to that opinion.
I guess nobody should be surprised. He's a mercenary. Didn't he bail on Tennessee after 1 season in the middle of the night to go coach at USC?
I dunno about this. LSU is the more talented team, but I kind of think Ole Miss wins big.
