Ex-Purdue star Trey Kaufman-Renn enters portal, sources say
Former Purdue star Trey Kaufman-Renn, who was granted a TRO on Wednesday for a sixth season of eligibility, has entered the transfer portal, sources told ESPN.
I guess it makes sense, the NCAA is paying a lot better than the G league - especially if the Timberwolves are cool with it.Kaufman-Renn was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the 59th pick of June's NBA draft, but he never signed a contract despite playing five NBA summer league games with the team. A source with the Timberwolves told ESPN that the team is "supportive" of Kaufman-Renn's decision to return to college basketball.
In late August, however, Kaufman-Renn filed a motion seeking a TRO against the NCAA for another season of eligibility. His argument centered around his redshirt season, saying he would not have used it under the new NCAA five-for-five age-based eligibility model and played only four seasons instead of five.
