Also recall when Ryan Day said he would need about $13M to build a roster that will compete for championships. Everybody gasped and CJF pointed at that number as a target that our peers were shooting for.
We are......21st overall tied with gulp Clemson. SEC has a narrower gap top to bottom. B1G has the biggest two, Oregon and OSU at an estimated $50 mill. Going to need a salary cap or something like that to even the field. But the top ten won't vote for that just yet.

"Impact on student athletes" -- I don't know what your line of work is, but you should take the meeting, ask him which students are majoring in subjects of relevance to your business, and tell him that you'd be happy to interview them for positions after they graduate.
Where does Indiana come up with the money? They have a bigger allocation to basketball.
Same with Nebraska who is slightly higher than PSU. Who are the big donors?
Mark Cuban is one of Indiana's more prominent NIL supporters. His brother graduated from Penn State.

I agree with your first sentence, and perhaps might even agree to a mere solid B.
However, I do not agree that Penn State has "always been" a B+ program.
For 20 years, from 1967 to 1996, Penn State (in my opinion, at least) was definitely a Top Tier A to A+ level program.
Until 1974 or so, Penn State by agreement with other Eastern schools played under the constraints of signing only 25 scholarships per year. Meanwhile the SEC, Big 8, and SWC routinely signed classes of 50. Dave Campbell's Texs Football magazine used to list all the recruits by the Texas schools, and he mentioned more than once that the SEC and Big 8 had similar numbers.
Yet there was Penn State defeating the Big 8 champs twice in the Orange Bowl and the SWC champs twice in the Cotton Bowl. With only 1/2 of the annual recruits of those programs. Yes, Bear Bryant had Joe figured out, but few other coaches in that 20-year span did.
Some people, including oddly enough some Penn State fans themselves, seem to base the Nittany Lion program on how a cluster of sportswriters from across the USA voted in polls. These same people overlook undefeated, untied seasons in 1968, 1969, 1973, and 1994. They seem to believe that teams like OSU ('68), UT ('69), or NU ('94) were better than the Nittany Lions. I don't share that belief and am willing to debate on the merits of those squads. I'm not quite so confident that the 1973 team was better than ND or Alabama; nevertheless, that '73 squad was the only one to go 12-0.
If one considers the outstanding teams of 1971, 72, 77, 78, 81, 85, 93, and 96 then it should be clear that Penn State was among the truly highest level of football porograms in America for 2 decades.
Notice I omitted the 1982 and 1986 squads which managed to get enough votes to claim a MNC. That's 14 of 20 seasons of NC-caliber production. How many other programs showed such consistency over that span?
And finally, Penn State accomplished all that success without a single NCAA violation, with only a few #1 rated recruiting classes, and for many years without non-medical redshirting. Sounds like better than a B+ program to me.
Are these numbers a reflection of what teams ARE paying or is it a reflection of what they're ABLE to pay?
I've seen these things where it looks like they're pricing our the roster. I suspect a lot of the ISU transfers came for a slightly lower than market price.
