How does a guy pitch arguably the best game of his life, go 9 innings, and then to the IL?
I would think they would have taken him out of the game if he was feeling discomfort. Hope they didn't mess him up by leaving him in.

What a disastrous day for the Offense. Despite 13 walks, the Phils left 13 on base and were 1-10 with runners in scoring position.

It does seem that their batting average with RISP is pretty poor for the season. It may be, but I couldn't find quick data for 2026 on that.
I did find the team averages for the season for runners left in scoring position, and the Fightins do rather well versus the rest of the league. Their average for runners left in scoring position per game is the 7th best this season in MLB.

I did a little more checking, and did find 2026 MLB stats for team average with RISP. It turns out the Fightins do pretty well. They have the 3rd highest team battling average with RISP.

With the DBacks loss, Phillies’ magic number down to 6. The DBacks end the season playing their rivals fighting currently for the last WC spot - the Padres. That helps us.
We end with the Rays and Brewers - the top team in each league. Sound bad, but we could be playing against their scrubs if they’ve both clinched 1st overall by then. Very good chance at least some of those games are meaningless to those teams - especially the last series against the Rays. Root for the Rays to win and Yankees to lose

I have to admit that I haven't paid attention to this type of situation much in the past. I can recall some teams still playing all of their starters and keeping the pitching rotation in tact so they don't lose momentum going into the playoffs. This doesn't seem to be an NFL situation where you see almost entirely second stringers, but I could be wrong. Maybe teams will rest a few key guys here and there and take their starting pitchers out early? That said, it doesn't seem like the Rays and Brewers would be bringing their A game, so hopefully a benefit to the Phils.
I think you’re generally right. Keep the key guys on schedule and such, but even a little bit helps (e.g. a starter just going 5 instead of 7 to stay on schedule, etc).
All that said, they aren’t going anywhere without some more offense. Turner’s struggles are killing them and Stott/Marsh have gone ice cold too.
This is a team with a lot of highly-paid passengers right now
Every team has guys that are doing well and guys that are struggling. As I've said before, once you make the playoffs, winning a WS is all about getting hot at the right time. See the SF Giants in 2010-2014. Regarding Turner, he has shown the ability to go into the tank or to get red hot at the drop of a hat. Hope the hat drops soon.
These LOB and RISP numbers are shocking. I watch them every night with my wife (although she does walk away when Alvarado is brought in) and would never have guessed they are near the top in these categories. Good to know fans of other teams feel as much pain.
The best offensive teams will typically have the highest LOB because they put the most players on base.
For some reason, this year is a bit of an anomaly, with some of the best teams with the lowest LOB. If you page through the years in the link, you see that the worst teams are typically lowest in LOB.
