How did Doucet get a 7th year after wrestling one match 2nd semester and could have wrestled more but Voinovich gets a Med RS rejected after having an old ACL injury surgically repaired and missed the ENTIRE season. I'm not the paranoid type but after the gambling suspensions and now this???

I have no idea why Voinovich was denied, but Doucet met the schedule requirements for a med shirt.

He wrestled January 3rd in a dual against Air Force in the year he was approved for the Med RS. I assume that's the 2nd semester which should have made him ineligible right there.

It is a common misperception that the rule is based on semesters. It is not. For wrestling you cannot wrestle in the team's 10th date of competition or later. The Jan 3 dual was their eighth.

Crazy, they give out medical like candy. Don’t know how a lot of guys get them, especially Doucet, Paddy, and many more. VV missed the entire year and had surgery. Crazy.

Wish VV the best, let’s see if Estrada or anyone else is ready to make impact…

I think Estrada will surprise some folks. I like the kid's pace and that's something to build on that Brands doesn't have to try to somehow install. If he can start finishing and gains that confidence he could jump.

Thanks VV. Man I though he and Paddy coming out as recruits were almost must haves. Crazy how some classes top 10 are epic and other very underwhelming when you look back on them.

Not sure if Brands has made a decsion to JW. My guess is probably or IMO he should have but in no way should the loss of VV factor into keeping JW around. Less is more sometimes

My opinion is Estrada is a lot like VV unless things have changed for him. Very defensive, hard to take down, and a lot of controlling head ties. Only recent guy I know of to be successful with this approach was Lugo but he had things like a lightning fast duck under from a tie up position Granted Estrada has had a year away and maybe he will look different. Guessing he will need to go up a weight again to 57 because no way JW gets a shot at 49 if Block wants it at this point.

Being a coach in CA, I watched his whole high school career. He's certainly not lacking in strength or athleticism. He has a seriously good high crotch and a good down-block/go-behind. Plus as you mentioned he's hard to score on. It's a good starting point, but I agree that the staff is going to need him to step it up and score more than he's been.

Lugo was probably the best in that category that you described, and I don't see Estrada getting to the same level... but I also don't think it's totally out of reach from him to be a starter for us who can reliably get some wins. Being short for 57 will be tough. I've heard Cael specifically recruits long wrestlers, might be something to that...

Wonder if Duffy can push Estrada for the spot at all if Williams ends up being done. Duffy has a lot of potential and made big jumps throughout highschool. Would think he needs time before he could ever start for us but sometimes kids who are trending upwards make big gains quick in college.

I’m not a lawyer. But my understanding is that if you are in the vehicle drunk, and you have control of the vehicle (for example sitting behind the wheel with it running), that’s all you need to be convicted of OWI.

many jurisdictions will arrest you if you have control of the vehicle defined as having the simple ability to drive. i.e. - if you have your keys. The car does not need to be running in order to be arrested. You can be arrested while sleeping in the back seat with the car off. Conviction may be more difficult, but they will try. There is so much money involved in going after DUIs and such that the police will arrest a ham sandwich.
