There is a very good chance the Big 10 Championship game will no longer be played with a bigger CFP schedule. A 24 team CFP adds another early round of games which probably knock out the championship games. And I dont see the NCAA and conferences going back to an eleven games regular season.
It is then better to have each Big 10 team play 5 home and 5 away conference games. One, that keeps more money in the Big 10 coffers for payback to each school to pay players. Two, it balances the schedule since there will be no top two teams playing for the league championship. Three, it is more exciting than maybe playing 3 weak non-conf teams and paying them several $million for their appearance.
We saw how much money schools are paying their athletes and some schools need more of that TV package money, etc. It is all very fluid because who knows how our congress will muck this up.
