Bob Bickleman, LHS hwt, 1974 and 1975. Big, quick and skilled. I had to wrestle him every day in practice my senior year (his soph.) when he hit full size. Twas not fun but it was good. He wound up going to F&M for a couple years and did pretty well there.

… and every time he won a match, his dad held up a silly little wind up monkey that played cymbals!

You guys had another pretty slick wrestler IIRC Chris Harmatta or something like that… did he go on to wrestle in college or beyond?

Just a little brag, but, my son ended up having a great high school basketball career. He was our county MVP. We moved to Mifflin County prior to his Freshman year, after my divorce. When we were in the Cedar Crest school district, he wrestled one year. He was incredible in practice, beating the most experienced kids in his first year. At matches, he couldn't control his nerves, though he still did pretty good. He switched to basketball his next year because Cedar Crest, Lebanon, etc. are essentially the one area in PA that really doesn't have much success in wrestling, with a few exceptions. I think if we lived somewhere else, he would have exceled at wrestling. Even if we grew up in Mifflin County, he would have wrestled, in my opinion. I'm super proud of his basketball career, and he's playing baseball in college, but, I'll always wonder "what if" he would have wrestled.

Yes. Chris Harmatta wrestled at 138 and placed 4th in AAA in 1974. I've jokingly taken some of the credit for his senior year success over the years because we wrestled each other a few times a week throughout the summer of 1973 and we both got a lot better from it. He went to Bloomsburg for a little bit but didn't wind up wrestling there much if at all.
