Well just to add suspense I’m calling it right now, it’s setting the stage for Hibriten and West Iredell in playoffs. Hibriten will definitely go undefeated long as they don’t take RS Central for granted and WI should fall to Hickory giving Hibriten a home game or at least should. East Lincoln could stop em’ in a thriller but yeah this team is definitely on a roll. The FFN guys pointed out they started 4-0 last year and lost next 5 games but this is a different team.
Bear in mind to I’ve seen WI state ranked before, 2006 I beleive they were #10 coming into North Lincoln game. NL upset them that night with nice performance by QB Trent Hopkins- best NL QB of all time IMO

From what I saw from West Iredell: 1. Home crowd really is quiet for a 5-0 team. Most fans are scanning their smart phones or oblivious to what's in front of them and how rarely they see this. 2. I was told their QB was D1 and SEC bound. We'll, from what I saw last night, he's either bound for an SEC bench or not as a QB. Poor decision making and lack of ball placement. Now, he has a cannon and maybe he was just off last night. But man, did he make some poor decisions trying to scramble. 3. Defense is good, but open to make mistakes in the secondary across the middle....and they have trouble bringing down short, slippery backs. 4. It appeared they've lost lineman #52, big kid who suffered a knee injury while celebrating in the endzone. 5. That WI turf looked slick as ice. Players, and even officials, were hitting the ground just trying to stop or plant. 6. Huge chunk of the home stands marked off for the no show band which, according to the folks I spoke to, has less than 20 members. Pull up the tape if they're scared of a sprinkle and don't tape off several hundred seats for 20. 7. Does the school have administration?? Those teens throwing football behind the fans, their vaping, and lord knows what else since they were going into both bathrooms (don't ask how I know) were a nuisance all night. 8. Beautiful school and stadium setting. Just get some supervision! 9. I said it earlier, but that #8 running back for West is the real deal. It's been a loooong time since I've seen a back run over and through defenders like that. Is he a D1 prospect?????? 10. Lastly, kudos to Maiden's fans. They stayed to the very end. They didn't bail. They didn't ***** the entire game. They were outclassed last night, and supported their kids and program the way all should do.

Thoughts: East Lincoln will probably squeak out a win here next week. Hickory will bottle up #8 and win by 20 at home. The concern is whether West can keep their composure after two Ls and finish strong.

Question: That was beatdown on Maiden. When was the last time they took a conference/regular season shutout loss??

I'm actually considering traveling back up there to see that EL game next week. Hope the weather is better.....and the game.

I knew Maiden was down but didn’t realize they were that much down until I saw the game. I know West Iredell is good but after seeing Maiden played in this one I could tell they definitely were not the Maiden of the past.
Looked like they played ok against a powerful Lincolnton(saw the YouTube), handled business against ACR but ACR is alittle below what they usually are and the younger Dowdell obviously ain’t his big brother but yeah last night was totally unexpected. I had 28 to 21 or 28 to 14 WI win kinda game in mind…I bet a ton of people thought the same thing.

BH loss got me. I’m gonna pick what AMD picks next time. Still gonna be a tight race in the Talley. Maiden Creek keep us posted. I was NOT gonna go with Bandys cause they barely got by Saint Stephen’s and took a dump against KM. Any given Friday out going on out there I guess lol

Honestly take on last night. Coaches can put kids in positions to succeed but the kids have to want it. Seagle didn't play because of concussion wouldn't have changed outcome except score maybe. 1st qtr lose our defensive end concussion wouldn't change outcome but maybe score. These kids need to look deep inside themselves and see if they have the heart to change this season and turn it around. Some kids are leaving everything out there on field but I feel like some aren't they are just going through motions. Once the RB got outside those kids didn't want anything to do with him and that's lack of heart and pride. I'd respect them more if the got trucked then slap tackle. We have young pieces that are future of this program and I personally would like to see them play and take lumps to get them prepared for future. I think some of the older kids haven't seen struggles in there high school playing time. And now they face adversity and they are gonna rise from it or sink. I fully believe the coaches are gonna continue to teach and push these kids to play to maiden standards and I hope these kids will open their minds and soak it in and execute it on the field. But in the end they can't make these kids leave it on the field, that's something the kids have to want inside their selves. I still feel like with some changes and improvements this team can be respectful in the playoffs. The night may seem dark but the morning will be bright. The future is trending in the right direction

I haven't watch a Maiden game in over 20 years and i have always respected the Maiden program especially when Tom Brown was the HC. I knew Maiden was down this year and inexperience QB and alot of youth, but this might be the biggest growing pains for the Maiden program in a long long time.

As for West Iredell their a good team no ? about it, but they really haven't been battle tested yet. The next 2 games should be very interesting on Oct 2nd vs East Lincoln and Oct 9th at Hickory. West Iredell doesn't really have big time football History like most other programs. I don't think West Iredell has any true true dedicated fans that are commited to the programs. The fan support might do okay to show up for home games, but their just there to have something to do on Friday Nights This might be one of the better West Iredell teams they have had in a longtime. West Iredell best season in School History was 1986 they went 10-0 Jerome Henderson Senior year that played in the NFL and Coached,in the NFL for over 35 years that was 40 years ago. Could West Iredell go 10-0 in 2026?

I agree with Batman…West Iredell has a beautiful facility and stadium and the turf field was stunning. That was my first visit there. Yep…the last Maiden game I missed was the last time Maiden played there many years ago.

Regrettably…I missed this game too. Yep…got there…sat down… got wet …then evacuated the stadium and sat in the car for an hour as instructed by the PA man. Left at 8 pm and headed home. What a miserable experience. Tried to go to Boxcar before the game but couldn’t get in the parking lot because it was packed!!! It was still packed on the way back too! Ugh!

I say all that to say this…I don’t mind waiting, getting wet, Maiden getting throttled, or not getting to Boxcars salad bar…but I drew a line in the sand..when I saw the huge squeeze bottle of Hellmans Mayonnaise on the condiment table at the concession stand…that took me over the edge. Yep…ate my food dry and was thankful for the small container of slaw to help me get it down. Ole Creek was damp… sitting in the car for an hour… fuming with the hiccups!

Good times!

Boom Devils! Baby.

No. They won't get to 10-0. That '86 team is the WIHS gold standard. Jerome Henderson and head coach (Mooney?) at that time were a perfect match...

When you post I can hear you speak ! Definitely would not eat Hellman's either. You're going to have to keep some emergency tonic with you.

I agree the future looks good. It's a young team at key positions. I figured this season would be a challenge, but I didn't think it would be to this level. I thought the defense and the O-line would be the strength of the team. All things considered, the defense has done okay. The O-line has been really disappointing. First and goal from the North Lincoln one yard line and can't score. Gain eight yards on a first down play against Bunker Hill deep in their territory - three plays later we're turning the ball over on downs.

Hopefully, this season will prove to be a one off. We're lucky to be Maiden fans. The last time we had a season like this was 2014 (5-7). We've had only four losings seasons since the SD-7 2A conference was formed in 1959, and two of those were 4-5-1 and 5-6. Maybe we can still find something to improve this year's team. Just wondering - could we try some wildcat offense to try to help the running game, or is that off the table?

My take:

Maiden is young! That Freshman QB has all the tools n potential but still Green on IQ and ball placement n such but He going to be good! Maiden seems like they didn’t want it last night and were tackling Amario Spence High and Just couldn’t handle the contact well. Maiden Offense was stagnant and just couldn’t do much.

West Iredell: weapons , weapons , weapons on both sides; They have good guys on both sides and they are aggressive and physical. Good IQ and good speed and vision. They were bit more run heavy then usual but they didn’t have to pass as much!

only negative here is there were a lot missed penalties tho.
