Nice 70 yard drive, 1 yard TD run, XP blocked. 3 flags on Morris on the drive. Gotta clean it up.

No clue on time. Scoreboard is just a over exposed block of light that's impossible to read.

Morris forces fumble on ensuing kick off and scores 2 plays later on a 15 yard Persich run. 2 pt. conversion is good.

10 yard TD run. Morris has forced 3 fumbles in the first quarter. Got stopped on downs after the 2nd fumble.

Another Rochelle fumble leads to a Persich 45 yard TD pass on a reverse pass/flea flicker type play. Best deep ball I've seen him throw tonight.

After what I think was the 6th Rochelle turnover Morris ends the half with a 30 yard FG.

Rochelle with a drive that took the entire 3Q with the running clock. They score early in the 4th on Morris 2nd string defense. XP no good.

Morris had the ball for 3 plays in the 2nd half. One fumble, one rush, and a knee lol.

Morris continues to prove weekly that they are the team which will come out of the north. Frankly, I think they beat Montini by 10.

Tough to judge from this game. Playing Rochelle is like playing Navy, you should win big, but every once in a while they'll jump up and get you.

Usually Rochelle is a very fundamentally sound team and I was very surprised with all of the turnovers. Morris forced a few but there was 2 on bad pitches and one botched hand off. They never pass so the INT wasn't a surprise.

Other than possibly Cahokia in week 9 we won't know how good Morris really is until a few rounds into the playoffs given their soft schedule the remainder of the year.

They’ve beaten 5 will be playoff teams up to this point with ease. Old format playoff teams, not the new watered down version. Closest game was a 3 score win.
2 of them top 10 4a teams (coal city/rochelle) and a top 10 5a team (kaneland). Simeon is also extremely talented. Expected a little more out of Lemont.
I’ve seen Montini. Morris can absolutely beat them. Really hope that game happens.
The narrative around Morris often seems to be they play nobody which is completely false. Maybe they’re just really good…..

I don’t doubt Morris are good but the teams they play are just not comparable and it shows when they get into the playoffs. I’m not saying they can’t win but saying they are favored or are likely to win by double digits is just nonsense. They don’t face teams with the same offensive output as the teams they run into and fall flat against in the playoffs. Their defense simply isn’t used to it.

the last 4 playoff exits after having great regular seasons:

Morris 11-2 and loses to Montini 47-27
Morris 8-5 and loses to JCA 42-7
Morris 11-1 and loses to JCA 49-7
Morris 10-3 and loses to Peoria 76-56

Rochelle is not a top 10 team in 4A and hasn't been ranked all season. They have beat LP and two 0-5 teams.

It's funny, when I talked about how Coal City would give Morris a game you said it wouldn't be close and how CC wasn't on Morris' level but now you're touting what a great win that game was. So which is it, it's a good win or CC isn't on Morris' level? Can't have it both ways just to fit your narrative.

Morris' best win has been against Kaneland who should finish 8-1 and yes, like you say, they are a really good team, they're just not great. Sure they could knock off Montini, but it would be a fairly large upset if it were to happen.

What I’ve noticed about Morris over the years is they’re either “sneaky good” or just mediocre when it comes to eventually playing the big dog teams but it’s never been in between..

Agree...sort of.

A team like Morris that always gets the press and with the history they have, they're never really "sneaky good", you see them coming.

The issue for me this year is that the defense has yet to be tested and the little they were against Simeon, they failed.

For Morris to take the next step they need to step up their non conference schedule. They play in a nice 4A/5A conference, but typically Morris is the only consistent team with a rotation of Kaneland, Sycamore, and Rochelle having good teams. It was nice to see them schedule different teams in non conference, but they need to look to schedule bigger and better. Get JCA on the schedule, look to get a team like Marist or a playoff caliber 6A team.

Rochelle is #6 in Edgys 4a rankings. I put more trust in to his rankings than anyone else out there. Especially the IMP rankings that are giving Breese Central 1st place votes in 4a now.

My stance on CC has never changed. I have always said they are a solid 4a team. Nowhere near the level of Morris/Montini/Rochester. Not sure what point you’re trying to prove here.

I would definitely challenge that ranking after seeing them last night and 2 of their 3 wins being over winless teams.

Coalers are not at the Morris level, let alone Rochester, but I think they are better than Rochelle and probably top 5, certainly top 10 in 4A

Rochelle should not be ranked. Will struggle to get to 5 wins. They were clearly exposed last night.
