Like I said...........make FCS opponents a preseason game

Whether you want this to take the place of the "Spring Game" or make it an exhibition game like what we do with the Kids' Day Scrimmage before the start of the regular season, I don't care.

The results continue to justify this course of action, and yes, I am still a firm believer of these FBS programs not completely abandoning their in-state FCS programs.

Regardless of what the fans want, it has been made very clear across the entire country that these schools are willing to pay each year.

This is the best compromise.

Yeah, because of the transfer portal/NIL era, FCS teams just can’t compete anymore. The best players get poached off their rosters every year and it’s just not possible for FCS programs to put up any sort of fight against a quality P4 opponent.

Frankly, it’s beyond boring.

As long as Iowa plays Iowa State (a P4 program) then they need to schedule these games rather than a decent opponent. B10 too tough and Iowa itself doesn’t quite have the resources.

Yes they are beyond not really interesting anymore and I think if you transfer you should have to sit out a year but still get 4 years of eligibility...

These games are huge for UNI and Northern Illinois as far as making money...

I like our schedule...

A lot of people agree with you and it is ok but I would rather see a game with a Colo St, N Texas St, Boise St, or even Army or Navy or Air Force than an FCS game. @RagnarLothbrok said it best when you describe the hawks getting Phillips from S Dakota St iirc and he was probably their offensive mvp. Hard for those teams that do not have a TV contract to keep proven players. And for FCS teams to be on a par with P4 teams they need to keep all their players and now that aint going to happen very often.

I've advocated that no FBS team should be playing any FCS school. Go to 11 games, play the FCS a as an exhibition and pay them, and be done with it.

Oregon beat Portland St 84-0. Iowa should have won 100-0 had KF not taken his foot off the pedal. Be done with it.

OMG. If Iowa isn't good enough to play Kansas or Virginia or Duke or any one of dozens of other teams instead of a weak FCS program, then Iowa should just give up football. As a player or coach, I'd have been too embarrassed to even take the field against such an outmanned group as UNI put out there on the turf of Duke Slater Field yesterday. But KF apparently loves those wins. Cool. Then go beat Michigan and Ohio State.

Those academy schools give opponents fits with their option offenses.

Yeah and you remember the last time the hawks played against a triple option, the hawks smothered Ga Tech. The hawks very often have one of the most gap discipline and best tackling teams in college football so I would not be afraid to play those teams that cant pass that well usually

They're not taking games away. That's just revenue lost in their eyes.

Adding a "preseason" game against an FCS team means added revenue.
