It doesn't have to be either or. Both should be the goals.

Definitely think SCW can AA here @184’s. His gas tank is one of his best attributes.

Correct SCW got a great tank but hard to see any of the top 4 getting knocked off.. it’s going to be mainly a battle for the remaining 4 spot.. think Mantanona and Neitenbach beat SCW last year so they will be tough outs… also heard Berge took a jump… plus there will be new freshman that come into the AA picture… SCW can AA but it won’t be easy.
Bunch of guys dropping down to 174 too. Wrestlestat has Zack Ryder, Jaxon Smith, Hunter Garvin, and Gabe Arnold at 174. Also has Kaleb Larkin up from 157.
By my count there’s 11 former AAs in the weight class. Not an easy task.
Norman will be the guy for Oklahoma st at 174 it's sounding like . Ryder had his shoulder fixed if medicals were still a thing he would be taking one. Imagine he will take it slow and try to be back 2nd semester
174 is def deeper. Feels like just about anyone in the top 15 can beat each other.. that’s the trade off with 184 where its way more stacked up top.
That’s half the battle though. I don’t think SCW is one of the best 8 guys nationally at either weight. He’s more likely in the 9-16 range. A good draw can get him on the podium. A bad draw could have him go 0-2 or 1-2 at the tournament. I think that can be said about a majority of NQ’s though.
Well that’s the debate: which weight SCW has a better shot to AA in. If it’s hypothetically the exact same odds to AA both weights then it makes more sense team wise and individually to stay 184….
Hypothetically if SCW gets the same seed at both weights I do feel there’s more parody at 174.. even tho it’s deeper… also there’s prolly some psychological edge to wrestling new faces and feel like your used to wrestling bigger and stronger guys.

I’d expect Herrera to be in the 11-16 range type of guy , I think c Harer will have plenty of chances to move up
Who do you expect Herrera to be beating to jump into that 11-16 range ?? Currently guys ranked there are Pitzer, Lanosga, Mullen, Ziola, Merrill.

Please remind me of the limitations. I just read that certification is the minimum weight they can wrestle, but that makes no sense when compared to expectations. Can they wrestle one or two classes below or above certification?
Yes they can drop that's not the weight they will go . Ford weighed between 184.01 and 197.0. He's a 174
It's based on body fat and once you weigh you can lose 1.5% of your weight per week down to 5% body fat. You could weigh 190 and be a 165 in 9 weeks if you have enough body fat.
I can him jumping Pitzer, Lanosga and Mullen. Herrera as a true freshman had a win over Mora who was R12 at 285 last year ( beating Amos and Feldman). same season herrarra lost by 2 to Pitzer who seems to get worse and worse the longer hes in school. Mullen hasn’t gotten any better in 3 years i don’t see why that isn’t a winnable match
Mullen pinned him at u23 trials and he lost to Mueller Columbia. I like him he's gonna be a good HWT and the fans will like him .

SCW being ranked 8th while Soldano is ranked 11th is just a hilarious smack in the face to the latter. He took their match last year and had a better run at NCAA's. Oh well.
I think SCW had the best win with his win over Fishback.. valid points though.
One could argue the Soldano win over the F&M kid was better, but I see he's graduated now. So I do see the ranking logic, even if it doesn't sit well with me.
This will be an interesting year for those two. Will either show improvement? Soldano must stay healthy. Brian campaigned for the extra year, so I hope he's serious and makes the best of it.

Your absolutely right, Soldano had wins over Conway(F&M), Dean(Iowa st), SCW, and Neitenbach(!)… also made R12 last year..
There’s not enough justification as to why intermat has SCW ranked 8th and Soldano 11th…
On Flo they have Soldano ranked 9th and SCW 10th…. Which makes more sense.. considering the h2h and R12 finish..
