This one is most likely for the conference title in the Mnt 8. The Panthers were expected to be here, the Mounties have surprised in impressive fashion! With Coach Crompton manning the Mounties sideline, I assume the passing game is strong. Most folks will think it will be a battle of. Franklin’s D 27 points given up in 6 games vs the high flying Tuscola offense 270 points in 6 games! My thoughts are that Coach Brooks will look to shorten this game. It will come down to, if the Panthers can run the ball and work the play action + short passing game to run the clock vs the Mounties. Here’s hoping no injuries!!! Give me your thoughts on this one as it might be the Mnt game of the year!!!

Should be a great game. Tuscola is more of a running team, but does have a nice passing game to compliment the run. D has been pretty strong as well, gonna be a heck of a game.

Should be good one. Two good RBs with different strengths. Two good athletic QBs. Franklin really didn’t have to open things up against us bc we kept giving them such good field position but their D is solid. Young is obviously a man-child with his strength. Franklin’s going to try and control the game while Tuscola tries to blow it open. My gut says Franklin will be able to control the clock and win a close one.

I thought Smoky would do that but Tuscola blew them away

I came away from the Smoky game feeling like we did far more to ourselves than they actually did to us. To give them the 6 turnovers we did,
an over-the-top team would have beat us far worse. Franklin appears to have a more focused and much more deeper, talented group than Smoky.

This should be a hell of a game.
The smoky game was great too ,those guys never quit even when they knew it was out of reach. Their #8
Was a load!! No matter what I’m picking my mountaineers. Hoping for an injury free ,very competitive game!!

Going with tuscola , they have more speed.
I agree with you on the speed. If I were Tuscola, I’m looking to get out front quick with quickness. If they can do that, there is a good chance they win. They do have more take-it-to-the-house options than Franklin appears to.

Franklin needs to bottle it up to win and a Tuscola needs to blow it up to win.

Haven’t seen Tuscola at all this year so it’s really hard for me to give objective analysis. Franklin over the past few years has become more well rounded. The Panthers identity will always be toting the rock. I will say we have the ability to throw the ball. This is the best D we’ve had in a while but we are susceptible to the pass as usual. Lot's of old cliches ring true in this one….turnovers, special teams, who can control the LOS. Gonna be a fun week leading up to this one.

Kinda surprised that there’s not more talk about this one. Tuscola is ranked #1 in 4A RPI. Need a breakdown on the Mounties from some of the T poster's. Let’s get this thread going!

This is a game I would like to see but I’m going to Mitchell. With that said it helps Tuscola they play at home. Not because it’s at home but because when you play at Franklin you are down 2 scores with their refs. The refs out that way are beyond terrible. The SMC and Franklin benefit greatly from that. I feel like Franklin is probably the better team but I haven’t seen either team in person. I have saw bits here and there but not enough to say for sure. Being at home Tuscola has a good shot. If it’s close I give the edge to Franklin. If Tuscola wins it will be by more than 2 scores. I don’t believe Franklin can win in a shootout. Again I could be wrong considering I haven’t seen them in person

The narrative of “The Pit” & SMC refs needs to die already! I respect you as a poster, but when was the last time you attended a game in Franklin? Are refs human?…yes of course. Do they subconsciously favor the home team?…maybe (remember Franklin doesn’t play every game at home). This happens statewide (including your home games)! I have seen plenty of home games where the Panthers got the short end of the stick. Focus on the game and not the field it’s played on!!!

Owen played in the pit. I went. If it’s true it’s true. No need to get bent out of shape. What goes on there is not normal

Was asking when was the last time you were at the pit. It doesn’t really matter, everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Ive been to almost every stadium in the mountains of western NC. I can count on 1 hand which ones I haven’t been to. I’ve also been to a ton of stadiums outside of the mountains. I’ve been following high school football for almost 40 years. With that said I stand by my comment. I’ve seen things and ways of calling games in the SMC and Franklin that just don’t happen other places. I still think Franklin is one of the top 5 teams in all of WNC this year. They just have an extraordinary advantage at home that most other places don’t. Come late playoff rounds that goes away I’m sure with refs from other areas
