What will our ranking be after we beat Indiana?

If we take out the Hoosiers, we will be top 10, maybe top 5.
Unfortunately I think the voters may question the Hoosiers and the Big Ten more than reward us. We would probably be ranked in the teens but then be propelled to the top 6 when we beat Penn State.

The homer in me thinks we can beat Indiana. The realist thinks we are not yet ready but if we keep it close, we will get some votes and then enter the ranking if we beat Penn State. Chip has found ways to exploit the defenses of Colorado and SDSU, but will have a tougher time against the national champion. I think Penn State’s defense does have areas we can exploit.

I’m genuinely annoyed we didn’t receive a few votes this week from the AP.

That said, if we beat Indiana we’ll jump to at least the top 15. I don’t see us getting into the Bama - OSU - Miami group. But Utah-Tenn-PSU-USC at 15-12 is very surpassable.

It would also be cool to end their 19 game winning streak. Very cool.

Honestly, if we actually win tonight I think we'll get an artificially high boost because of the media benefit - talking heads and journalists can then go on forever and ever and ever about what Chip Kelly has done to turn the offense around (cue historical stats and figures), the new stadium, maybe Chiles as a Heisman threat (if he puts up big numbers), the Chiles-Sparty-Fitz angle, and so on. It writes itself.

After we beat Indiana?

I guess it depends on what year that is, and how NU does in the games prior (i.e. it ain't happening this year).

We have a higher chance (very low) og beating them in the CCG than we do in tonight's game (zero).

And then Number One when we beat Ohio State and Oregon. We should have scheduled Texas instead of Ball State.

If we beat Indiana we will end up wherever Oklahoma State did after they beat Oregon.

Nu beating ind would be like stanford beating usc that first time with harba. They were 45 point underdogs and pulled off the w. I think mark sanchez was usc qb. Then, after that season they won 10+ games a season until harba went to 49ers. I'm hoping again for something trite to happen tonite!!

Not entirely a surprise, but hilarious and ironic that our competitive less to Indiana jumped us INTO the receiving votes category in the AP and gained us votes in the coaches poll. We’re about where we should be now. It also shot us up the computer/prediction rankings.

The Friday night game was probably watched by more reporters than usual, perhaps especially the second half where we outplayed them aside from the 70 yard run.

Penn State losing (and now being unranked) makes this less likely, unfortunately.
Yes. I didn’t expect them to lose. We may enter the ranking when we beat Penn State but it will be 20-25 range, unless we do another Colorado.

I was mostly surprised that it was only a single AP vote. Beating PSU will help, but since they are no longer ranked, it probably won't help much unless it is a dominant win.

A win over PSU will definitely jump us way up, they’re still well regarded and receiving a lot of votes. We’d be close to ranked at a minimum with Ball State coming up after.
