Geneva was damn impressive Friday night and got me thinking are they the best offense in the state?

Qb and group of pass catchers are outstanding and they rushed for over 300 vs Batavia. Boone is a tremendous play caller.

Who else is in the discussion?

Esl has 6 d1 skill positions guys (qb, rb1, wr1, wr2, te1)

I know but Geneva has a better QB and #1 WR. ESL has a much better RB but Geneva’s is very good.

I am shocked the big boys haven’t offered Konkey. Don’t make sense.

The qb may be better but Gomiller has a higher composite ranking than Konkey. Either way, Geneva doesn't have 6 d1 skill position players so idk how you could say their skill positions as a group is better.

I would throw in Hersey and Montini. Great QBs that automatically should make them part of the conversation. I’ve seen Montini more often and their offense is getting better and better every week with some great ability to make contested catches. I don’t think they can truly be considered with MC, ESL or Geneva bc of the lack of run game but they have unbelievable moments.

Haven’t watched them as much but also Rochester is always a fine tuned machine.

Konkey is great but I think the only thing keeping him from getting the big offers is the worry that he is overly reliant on speed. It’s really hard to project how a player like that will translate when faced with guys of the same or similar speed. Frankly I think he runs great routes as well but I’m sure that’s one of the knocks against him. Maybe height as well but I’m sure he a slot receiver at the next level

10.2 100 meter time as a Jr means very few D1 DB can with him. Plus he should get faster

For sure agree. I think he is under recruited but I do think that the reason he isn’t getting the same interest as Talyn Taylor is because his route running isn’t as refined even though he is faster, taller, and just as agile. All of that can be developed over time and it wouldn’t surprise me if he explodes in college. But now I think that’s the only thing holding him back from getting the top offers.

I don’t think counting up the number of D1 guys is the best way to evaluate the best offense. I think scheme matters and how well the players are actually utilized.

It’s a lot more complex because a team like Loyola has a lot less D1 talent and same with Rochester for the lower divisions but the system, play-calling, and so on can elevate the players and create unstoppable offenses. Having said that I agree that this year ESL is the best but I just wouldn’t go based on D1 players or star ratings. If you did that MC would have the best defense by far in the state with top recruits everywhere but the reality is they don’t play up to that talent level on defense.

Not saying they are but it’s debatable.

More d1 recruits doesn’t automatically = better offense.

A better qb goes a long way.

Konkey has the skill set to play on Sundays. That goes along way as wel.

And Boone is a great play caller.

Disagree. He has what you can’t coach and that’s blue chip speed that’ll translate not only to any college program but NFL as well.

I also feel he has tremendous hands and is a good route runner.

Hes also 6’2…I don’t think he’s a slot.

You recruit based on what you think you can develop the prospect into at your program. That kid has the potential to be a #1 WR in the SEC.

Why not Oswego? They outscored Geneva head to head.

D1 - WR (Iowa State)
D1 - TE (South Dakota State)
D1- Power 4 running back (offers from Indiana, Iowa and others)

They also scored 44 points on the road without the Power 4 running back.

Just waiting for you to mention them 😉

I’ve know Oswego is good but admittedly don’t know much about them.

The post i responded to was about what team had the best group of skill position guys. Nothing about scheme or play calling.

It’s two different questions I see: Best offense? and Most talented offense? They don’t always crossover.

And they also scored 7 points against a defense that gave up 31 points to HF. That alone may take them out of the conversation of the best offense in the state.

Not a team south of I-80 that can even come close to matching it... Now is there a defense that can stop it? Debatable... but doubtful while I chuckle thinking about a few programs that will be confident they can...

Brown County and Maroa-Forsyth are averaging 55+ per game.

That should settle it, no?

I was under the impression the offenses goal was to score points. Luckily the new IHSA website produces the top 5 PPG and top 5 in points allowed.

If thats not how we judge best offenses and defenses then I need the criteria. Word to Kel.
My guy, I have no rebuttal for that logic... it's sooooound. :ROFLMAO:
