”UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — On Sept. 24, Penn State senior leaders delivered the third annual livestreamed “State of State” update, addressing the evolving higher education landscape, ongoing and new strategic university initiatives, and the vision for Penn State’s ongoing success as part of the road map for Penn State’s future. In addition to those from the Penn State community who watched the livestream, nearly 200 faculty and staff leaders attended in person and engaged in Q&A following the event.
“Today is an exciting day; today is a day about the future, and a day about making sure Penn State is forever. Our excellence was always built on staying ahead of change, not by standing still,” said Penn State President Neeli Bendapudi. “I believe that Penn State is at a defining moment, and each of us has a role to play in what comes next. For us to continue to be a top-ranked research university — whose discoveries change the world, whose creative endeavors enrich the world — for us to be the university that students around the world seek out, we must adapt. We must do it now. And we will do it together.”
Bendapudi, Executive Vice President and Provost Fotis Sotiropoulos, Senior Vice President for Research Andrew Read, Senior Vice President for Finance and Business Sara Thorndike, and Senior Vice President for External Affairs and Chief of Staff Michael Wade Smith discussed a number of topics, including:
