I think it’s pretty cool that he gave a shout out to his elementary school, but I have to admit I was a little disappointed he did not introduce himself with “Rutgers University.”

Absolutely a baller. Again, how did we go from guys like him to what we have today?
It all points to one person. A person who is past his prime and/or lost the plan. Focused on building one of the most expensive support staffs instead of evaluating and building a roster. Two years in a row could not hire a DC right away and in time to recruit the better players from the portal.

Izien was GS player. Unless you are saying he is too hands off in coaching the D?

I know, and I don't have an answer. Maybe that's the problem--maybe he needs to be more hands on in coaching the D, but with the way things are today versus pre-NIL, perhaps that is not so easy.

High school talent evaluation has definitely taken a nose dive. GS used to regularly identify semi local guys that maybe were off the radar for the big boys but could straight up play. Powell, Izien, Saquan Hampton, Longerbeam, Mo Toure, etc. maybe a lot of that was Fran?

we don’t seem to produce any talent whatsoever on the defensive side that other teams even bother to poach with NIL. I guess Mascoe and a few other mediocre linemen.

I agree with others that Schiano seems obsessed with minutiae that don’t matter. Why else does he think the bloated staff makes sense?

We know it’s not Fran. He is not finding them in Syracuse either. Wonder if the focus has been shifted to NIL and we are just not that good at finding talent that fits and not enough money for top talent.
