The "Kirk played for OT" game - still pisses me off we didn't go for the win there. Had all the momentum
Yep, Vandenburg for his first start AND being in Columbus was humming along pretty good, especially late. OSU were on their heels definitely. As we were just reminded, so hard to beat OSU and it will always be one those "if only ..." type of games.

Vandenburg did look good in such a tough place to start for the first time. I recall Matt Millen hyping him some, noting that JV threw a real "juice-ball" I believe he called it. There was reason for optimism but ... I dunno, maybe that was that JV's best game?

If I remember correctly, Iowa took possession with about :55 left in the 4thQ and about 30 yards to gain for a legit FG attempt. Ferentz called a dive play and then took a delay of game penalty and knee to run it down to :00. Still maddening.

52 seconds at the Iowa 33. Didn't he have at least one time out as well? Vandenberg just completed 5 straight passes on a 70 yard TD drive to tie the game. All of the momentum until he threw it away. If I was an OSU fan, coach, or player I had to be in a state of shocked euphoria watching that and thinking "You've got to be shidding me! He's trying to gift us the game!"

JV had a great 2011 season. He also threw 3 picks against OSU so I kinda sorta understand a little lack of aggression but still, how many chances do you get to steal one from Columbus?

I remember chatter after that game moving forward some thought he maybe better option for the bowl game no matter what stanzi’s health. Was short lived. we played Minnesota in the home finale and he didn’t play well but D pitched a shutout in a 12-0 Win.

I was actually at the Syracuse game for "the stand" lol
My 13 year old son and myself, on a whim decided to take a road trip and see the Hawks that day in Syracuse. Lived in Virginia at the time. It was crazy! At the time we didn't know Tate was out and Manson was starting until the game started. We were bummed big time! Best goal line stand I've ever seen in my life!

Yeah, that sounds right. It wasn't completely smooth sailing in Columbus for sure, but maybe one (or two) of the pics was kinda flukey??? He threw such a "juice-ball" I remember a touchdown pass (I think) bouncing off our receiver's chest. Trey Stross, perhaps?

But yeah, a rare chance that went a-beggin'.

Yes. It was right on target. Too bad. Trey was from Ohio.

That was Brendan Sullivan who had to leave because of some arcane rule that allows only one QB named Sullivan per roster. Talk about ridiculous rules.

Gotta love The Stand! They had a good one vs NU a couple years back at Wrigley Field too…😉

That sounds more like it. Hecklinski is the best QB, and Sullivan is better than Brown, although in Sullivan's one appearance this year vs. UNI, KF wisely gave him 13 snaps in which he handed the ball off each time. Why the hell let your backups throw passes? UNI might be embarrassed if they lost 62-0 instead of 55-0. KF . . . WOW. But Sully did look good on those 13 handoffs . . .

Why do you dislike Hank Brown so much? Is it still about the Indiana game last year, or is it his purported MAGA affiliation, because your perspective is far from rational.

The fact that you just said that "Sullivan is better than Brown" with ZERO evidence to back that up, only adds to how ridiculous and slanted many of your posts are.
