When I was a freshman at NU 60 years ago (oy!), we played Ball State in basketball. Being from California, I had never heard of the school. But one of my NU dorm friends was from Indiana, and he knew all about that school. He told me that locals enjoyed it Testicle Tech. I loved hearing about that. So my friend and I decided to make a banner out of some bed sheets. We painted the words BEAT TESTICLE TECH on the sheets, and we took our homemade banner to McGaw Hall that night.
We displayed our artwork just before the game started. NU officials were not amused. They confiscated the banner and told us we would be ejected from the arena. They proceeded to walk us directly in front of the student section as they paraded us out. We received a standing ovation from our fellow students. Truly the highlight of my freshman year. Go Cats!
