Still a horrible FT shooter (58%)... rarely creates shots for himself that will put him on the line... has only taken 12 FTs all season.

It's clear that the rankings gurus missed the boat here. He never should have been ranked in the Top 100 let alone given a 5* star.

Think he always had the tools - but the game never slowed down for him and he looked like a deer in headlights. Seems like it’s clicking for him - who knows, maybe it would have come faster playing alongside Dylan.

Who knows, we really need to add a sniper next year.

They need more than that, an actual big, 2 snipers, a quality PG.

Didnt he have an eye injury his senior year in high school. Maybe that effected things who knowd
It was his junior year.
He averaged 24 points a game in his senior year, so the eye might not have been the problem adjusting to the college game.
Some talented players don't produce right away moving from HS to college, but eventual the talent shows ,( as I know you know . I don't hold a candle to your knowledge when talking college ball. But that doesn't stop me from disagreeing with you at times 😁 )

I think Lino is going to be a very good PG and Dorian might give us a solid shooter. But agree with everything else and our big situation is horrendous and needs to be addressed urgently.

Happy for the kid, but these numbers as a senior, especially only 36% from three for a guy who was billed as one of the nation's best 3-point shooters in his freshman class, are nothing to crow about especially because he is playing outside the power 4. J. Mike, Buchanan and Dylan Grant all shoot it better from 3 playing in the Big 10.

Isn't he a junior?
And I was puzzled by the initial post on X crowing about the numbers. They are "just OK". The OP took a beating on X.

Doesn’t sound like a joke
Sounds like a guy mad he transferred out but he was right to - good move for him
Which was a “good move for him”

When he transferred out of Rutgers or when he transferred out again out of Nebraska after riding their bench?

Just curious.

listen. Good for the kid that he finally developed into a decent player.

But frankly we don’t know if transferring had anything to do with it - transferring could have just as easily hindered his development (compared to staying in one place and developing)

Seems what he needed was time .

Getting to Temple was good for him- it’s a step down in competition. So getting out of Rutgers where he wasn’t going to play much was a good move . Going to Neb was a mistake but then leaving there was a good move

either way no reason to be mad at any player who leaves to try to better themselves or make more money

Glad to see Gavin having some success. He seemed way out of his depth during his Freshman year and it was difficult to watch. It must have been a brutal experience after all the high school hype.

agree with your assessment…generally.

However I do wonder if going to Nebraska was a big mistake (unless he developed a lot in practice LOL) and whether he would have developed more if he stayed at RU (playing with two NBA players with less pressure on him that year) and then being more prepared to be a bigger contributor once they left. We will never know .

btw - while I get not being “mad” at someone who transfers - if they do then they are fair game for ridicule ;)

Under the right coach GG cAn contribute but it’s telling that at both RU (D first mentality) and Neb (O first mentality) he was benched. Temple is in the A10 which is like the best or near best mid major conference but it’s not high major IMO top-down.

Multiple posters all said how well he was going to do at Nebraska playing for Hoiberg.

Saw him play I. High school and he dominated. Wondered how he would do against a top defender in college. Not real good it turned out.

15 posts on a 2 minute per game bench player who last played at RU 3 years ago.

Who says we don't have the best message board in the B1G ? 😆😆😆
I mean he's probably the biggest whiff in RU recruiting history? Savon Huggins is up there too but Gavin flopping his Freshman year really set the tone for all the shenanigans in the Harper/Bailey year.

This is ridiculous. He was a freshman. Fan expectations were stupid, not his play as a freshman. He was a struggling freshman on a poor team.

Tell me you expected stardom based on the rating, without saying it. I said from when h. committed that the guy had work to do and he proved me right. If he stayed he may have been bo better than any of the transfers they brought in considering Nebraska didn’t use him much.
