The Roadrunners have had the Mustang's number the last couple of seasons. But if I learned anything this year, it's been not to discount my beloved.

Nazareth has actually used the power run game the last couple years to set up the pass as needed and it wasn't needed much. St. Rita D this year has shown vulnerabilities in stopping the run game and the pass so the best I can hope for is to shell it up, keep the play in front, and tackle. Let them gain 500 yards in between the 20s.

The game will be decided by number of explosives resulting in TDs St. Rita gives up, Nazareth redzone O vs St. Rita redzone D, and if the St. Rita offense can go score for score. It might have to play out like the Montini game without counting on gaining possessions via special teams.

Doing the transitive property for the CCL Green division will just leave you scratching your head so don't try it.

Extremely proud of the young men of 77th. Predicted to be last in the Green in the preseason, they will be playing for an undefeated Green title with plans on being trouble in the playoffs. Hats off Mustangs, you have played an incredibly dramatic, exciting season so far. Ride it as long as you can

Haven’t heard much about Naz since all the alleged injuries. Have they gotten all or most of those guys back?

I don't know who was hurt for them but Naz was really kinda blah vs MC. Rare game that MC relied on the run vs the pass but they were running on Naz rather easily. After hard games with ESL and St. Joes MC kept the offense pretty vanilla. Again I heard people were out vs MC and I don't know who and if it played a real part in the outcome. But if they are weak vs the run that bodes well for Rita.

With Rita playing LA, PC, SF, GBW, Montini and Naz and all those teams being ranked over them and 4 in the top 10 I had SR finishing 4-5 with 3-6 being an slight possibility....actual had them beating Iggy. But that's why pre-season rankings and any rankings really don't mean much. These are teenagers and the games have to be played so surprises always happen so with 6-3 being a possibility that's very successful for SR.

Here is the game vs MC if you want to get a glance at Naz.

As the saying goes, POUND THE ROCK. Naz will not be able to stop the run. This should be an easy game for the kids on Western, but who knows...

I wholeheartedly agree with pounding the rock, and I love the confidence, but it being an "easy game," I am not so sure about that.

And I would encourage the Rita coaching staff and players not to treat Nazareth as an easy opponent.

This whole pounding the rock thing hasn't worked for St. Rita the last two years vs. Nazareth that won both games easily by 24 points while out rushing St. Rita 190-140 in 2025 and 140-90 in 2024. Nazareth has absolutely embarrassed St. Rita in their last two meetings physically and scheme-wise.

On a side note, congratulations to Offensive Coordinator John Nee who was named Class 3A Baseball Coach of the Year by the IHSA

@RockSoup This years Naz team is no where near as talented as in years past, so this is where it would be very different.

I know Naz still has plenty of high end talent, injuries aside, is the supporting cast just not as strong as years past? Is that the issue, if there is an issue?

Not buying it. This Naz team destroyed York which just beat Glenbard West at Duchon, who St. Rita beat by an inch on a two point conversion. Played the same game vs Montini (L 47-42) that St. Rita (W 39-38) did with out stealing two possessions via special teams. Beat Providence that people say may have been in disarray but not in disarray enough to beat Fenwick on the road the next week. St. Rita lost to Providence at home.

I mean I'm a big homer and love the make up and effort of this season's Mustangs but after being out classed by Nazareth the last two years when St. Rita matched up well vs. them, I cannot and will not be as confident as you are.

I believe 2024 was the year Herman got hurt in that game. The teams were basically dead even at that point. I'm not saying one player changes everything, but I think it's fair to say the outcome might have been different if he had played all four quarters.
Last year, though, I'll give that one to them. Rita completely fell apart. And let's not forget, plenty of people on here were predicting that Montini was going to put on an aerial show against Rita.

Montini did put an aerial show on. St. Rita was equal to the task on offense, never gave up, earned extra possessions and won. This game's a coin flip like pretty much all the teams against each other in an extremely competitively balanced CCL Green

Didn't the Bronco QB pass for over 400 yards with 4 passing TDs and one running TD?

Undefeated CCL Green Champs. Congratulations Mustangs!
Wow! For sure. Getting down early and just hanging around enough to beat a damn very good team on the road.

Looking forward to your recap. Just wondering how the offense did overall? Did Naz's tough defense stuff them a lot? Did SR have chances?

I didn't follow Naz at all outside of the week they played MC and them beating PC after they fired Plantz but I just saw they finished 4-5....I thought they were 5-3 coming into this like Rita. Definitely not the season many predicted for them but if they are 5A they may have a decent run

Who won the Blue? If it's MC then the rivalry will re-commence next year.
