to personally suffer from the consequences of his incompetence.

For his sake, it’s hopefully a slow and emotionally painful experience.

p.s. I’ve never claimed to be a nice person. 🙂

Hes like franklin after northwestern last year, hes nearly reviled by 90% of the fan base where there is really no out for him, but to:

- find the money(dont care how or where) to realize his commitment of providing a championship level team.

Or

- Resign, negotiate a buyout, and move on with his life's work of destroying another Athletic Department(maybe high school).

For those that think he wont leave because of the money or the university wont move on because of the buyout, you're wrong. He has already become a pariah that the fanbase and athletes wont want around. For christs sake, the New York times is writing articles about his ineptitude. He's on the clock and has 2 years from now max to field a top 10 team. He'd be well served to be less visible on the sidelines and get this sh*t fixed/raise money in the suites during games.

If he lasts two more years, Matt Campbell’s job is almost impossible. Think Sisyphus

If your NIL/RS war chest is 6th or 7th in the conference and your recruiting ranks the same.....unless you are entitled and delusional, what are your expectations? We deserve better?
Kraft's visions of empire could only be bought by those easily misled.
"Excellence at the highest level and a national championship our fans deserve."
That would require an incredible achievement of "coaching em up."

Campbell has not helped himself this season, but he historically has been a good coach at every level. He must be wondering what the hell he got himself into with Kraft. I I’m reading between many lines, but the recruiting class speaks for itself in terms of some of the misses, and it seems like Kraft is not following up with some of his financial commitments given to Campbell on hire. It cannot be coincidental that some of this negative football news is coming out from Pate to the NY Times at the same time Kraft is finalizing the 2027 football compensation budget for portal and retentions.

I have no idea what the financial ledger looks like....I do think the renovation of Beaver Stadium must be a heavy line item. Plus.....there is many other projects occurring simultaneously. Infrastructure at Penn State has not been managed as it may have been needed. I do however feel winterizing the stadium and improving fan amenities was badly needed. I like Pat, so yes I am willing to give him time....and with that time I do believe PSU will regain national provenance.
(Now...if we just improve the academic standing!)

Honestly, he's the cause of the fans turning on Franklin - he made the same promises to Franklin regarding Roster Budget Size (i.e., NIL Money beyond PSU's Revenue Sharing) - he never delivered on those promises and it caused PSU to loose some of it's highest profile players in the 2024 and 2025 classes - which is why PSU had very little depth last year and there was probably quite a bit of team problems when Franklin told them that Kraft wasn't meeting his financial commitments to the Program (and the players saw us losing recruits and some players).

It's outrageous that he negotiated himself a cushy raise and massive poison pill (i.e., Contract Guarantee to the tune of whatever remains of $16 million when terminated) and then villified Franklin for Franklin demanding that he meet his significant financial commitments to the team and bring Franklin's compensation in-line with the teams standing nationally and within b1g (Franklin was underpaid relative to his profile peers). Just hypocritical, double-talking bs what Kraft did to Franklin (and is now doing to Campbell). Who would want to work for this guy (I'm sure many prospective coaches and their agents did their homework on KraftyThe Clown and it is likely why all of them choose to use this horse's @$$ as leverage to get what they were looking for where they were at rather than actually go work for him)?

Well said, it does seem like promises are made and not kept. Actually, the mistakes in leadership in this organization extend beyond even Kraft. The decisions dating back to Paterno's firing have been a cascading example of poor leadership, wasteful spending, and corruption. I'm not absolving Kraft, quite the opposite, who the Hell would have signed off on such a contract considering his track record here?

Agree with a lot. The problems here started decades ago with an unbridled BoT. The place has stunk since the Spanier and Joe set up very badly. It stunk before that.

Our BoT has become a sinkhole of self perpetuating and self centered a$$holes.

Exactly! This guy was fortunate to be pulling a paycheck of any kind. Who in the hell would have signed a contract with a massive raise and an 8-year Guarantee to the tune of like 16 million if fired after Year 1??? What precisely was his leverage for such a sweatheart deal? His trackrecord certainly didn't justify it. Who in the heck signed off on this absurdity?

He has to be able generate much more than the current state in NIL for football which translates to procuring elite level talent. Not every guy needs to be elite but much more than what we have currently.

The current situation is we have a bottom 5 team in the B10, we are ranked somewhere in the mid to high 20s as far as NIL resources (source NY Times) and have the #24 ranked recruiting class for 2027 (source 247). This follows having no recruiting class in 2026 and having next to no talent on the current roster.

Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?

How much time should he get? I would let him stay through this off season portal season and then see how the '28 recruiting class is shaping up. I think around the end of June of next year it should be evaluated if he has been able to do what he needs to do in terms of bringing "championship level resources". I see this as getting us at a minimum into the top 15 in terms of NIL which probably means going from where we are now at about mid $20 mil in support to mid to high $30 mil in support. This looks like elite level portal transfers across the board but absolutely on the DLine, LBs and at RB. We should also go after the top QB in the portal. I don't think Manske is the answer. Also, WR is shaky after Howard. Speaking of Howard, he is the #1 retention guy so don't screw that up! We have to be trending to at least a top 15 2028 recruiting class if not close to top 10. If not? Then, see ya.

Campbell deserves the chance to have a budget that can be in the top 15, minimum. He doesn't get a free pass, though. He needs to still recruit and identify plus develop the talent. And coach these guys up. I think the OLine coach should be canned. We need to see significant on the field performance improvement. I would say with the playoff moving to 24 teams we absolutely need to make it in the field for the '28 season. If not then it could very well be the time to move on from him. I guess that assumes he is getting the resources he needs to compete.

Frankly, I love how Pate handled this: These incompetent people who have been in positions of power at Penn State, have historically been given carte blanche to destroy everything that is hope and joy for decades and decades, and have been able to do it in secret.

******** right I am glad it's in the New York Times and damn right Pate has a huge audience who now knows exactly wtf needs changed at Penn State. Even our God damned "board insiders" act like complete ******** and withhold information from the general public fans who stop in here because they care.

Raise the money or take the train, Brozo. You're on the clock and you're already running out of time.
