About 7 years ago, so we’ll fire him in another 5Schiano doesn’t understand talent or what he’s looking at anymore. The game passed him by.
Now you sound like Al. What they spent on their stadium has ZERO to do with what they spent on their roster. NOTHING, NADA, ZILCH.Playing Devil’s Advocate here how can you say that when we have a $100 million stadium renovation 20 years ago and they just did an $850 million complete rebuild by their biggest donor? They have a huge budget.

| Source / date | Rutgers | Northwestern | What the comparison represents |
| The Athletic, Sept. 16 | $20-23M | $21-25M | Program-controlled roster budgets. Northwestern’s midpoint is $1.5M higher, but the ranges overlap. Figures reproduced by On3 and RealGM. |
| The Knight Report / On3, Sept. 16 | $20-23M | $21-25M | Repeats The Athletic. Lists Rutgers 14th and Northwestern 12th in the Big Ten. |
| Gold and Black / On3, September | $20-23M | $21-25M | Repeats The Athletic; includes its explanation of what counts toward roster spending. |
| RealGM, Sept. 16 | $20-23M | $21-25M | Repeats The Athletic, explicitly crediting Bruce Feldman. |
| Legion Report, October | $20-23M | $21-25M | Repeats The Athletic’s September estimates. |
| Bucky’s 5th Quarter, Sept. 23 | $20-25M | $21-25M | Attributes its table to The Athletic, but prints a different Rutgers upper limit than the other reproductions. Treat this as a discrepancy, not another independent estimate. |
| The Sideline, Sept. 16 valuation | $21.5M | $23.0M | Estimated roster NIL market value. Northwestern $1.5M higher; the site explicitly says these are not confirmed payroll figures. |
| NIL-NCAA, 2026–27 estimates | $21.321M | $21.035M | Estimated revenue sharing plus third-party NIL. Rutgers $286,000 higher. Assumes $15.6M in school revenue sharing for each. |
| The NIL Standard, October pages | $20.5M | $19.9M | Modeled annual NIL market value, not actual contracts. Rutgers $600,000 higher. Rutgers page dated Oct. 15; Northwestern Oct. 19. |
| Nebraska on SI, Aug. 17–18 | $21.4M | $18.1M | Uses an earlier NIL Standard snapshot. Rutgers $3.3M higher. |
| USA Today’s Buckeyes Wire, August, syndicated by AOL/Yahoo | $21.4M | $18.1M | Also uses the earlier NIL Standard estimates. Ranks Rutgers 12th and Northwestern 18th in the conference. |
Their stadium cost more. What they are compensating their players is the same. We spend significantly more on our staff of 120 people. The stadium isn’t the difference. The coaching staff and player allocation is.Playing Devil’s Advocate here how can you say that when we have a $100 million stadium renovation 20 years ago and they just did an $850 million complete rebuild by their biggest donor? And what about the FIELDHOUSE!!! Doesn't anything think about that? The FIELDHOUSE has already scored two TDs today. It's unstoppable.“Not true at all. They have way more billionaire alumni so they definitely spend more we just don’t know about it.”
-you know who
You = MoronThis thread is truly moronic. They have a state of the art stadium and fieldhouse, things integral to attracting the best talent, plus they have more NIL support.
Their transfers are from Ohio State, Michigan, and Alabama, among others. Our transfers are from Drake, Eastern Michigan, and Citadel. Some people just lack common sense
Truth ^^^^^This is their 3rd game in this stadium. Their other home games were in their women’s lacrosse stadium. No one came to NW for either of those.
The facts are, which Retard Al can’t lie about, is we have similar level roster compensation and we spend more on staff. Two things which should directly lead to being competitive. But we aren’t.

Is the field house why our QB dove into an injury? And why the backup can’t play? This thread is truly moronic. They have a state of the art stadium and fieldhouse, things integral to attracting the best talent, plus they have more NIL support.

Retard Al believes that with all of his heart. He’s not very smart though, so…Is the field house why our QB dove into an injury? And why the backup can’t play?
We don’t know if the fan base is cheap. What we have seen is at the first glimpse of winning in football and basketball, a willingness to pay 2-3x for tickets do watch a mid level of winning. We don’t even know what it would look like if we ever made the sweet 16 or CFB playoff. Win at a moderate level for 5-10 years, add lots of fans and we’d find out how much $ can flow in.College football comes down to winning, and six years into Schiano 2.0, we just aren't doing it. We flirted with a breakthrough last year and fell short, and even Greg keeps admitting at the podium that the staff isn't coaching these guys up well enough.
It’s time to move on, but we can't let emotions torch the athletic department's budget even further. Eating a massive buyout right now just digs a deeper hole, which means we’re probably stuck riding this out for another year or two until the number drops. The AD needs to start forcing Schiano to reduce his staff and budget as a way to prepare for the next head coach.
Whenever that day comes, though, the school has to be smarter. The odds of landing a coach who can consistently win 7+ games at Rutgers are maybe 20–30% at best. We cannot keep handing out long-term, buyout-heavy deals that handicap us if the next hire flops. We also can't depend on our fan base to come up with the cash either. The RU fan base is super cheap, which is another roadblock to this program and another reason for responsible spending.
Our fan bae is cheap. Look at what happened around Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey, losing Cliff Omoruyi due to a lack of NIL funds gutted our interior, leaving us with zero supporting depth. Having generational recruits doesn't matter if you can't retain veterans or afford complementary pieces. This cost us potentially going deep in the tournament because of our cheap fan base. Look into the amount our dan base gives compare to other B10 teams. We don’t know if the fan base is cheap.
