Yikes, our wins are looking worse each week

N Illinois 0-7
Iowa St 3-4 (assuming loss tonight)
N Iowa 3-4
Mich 4-3
Wash 4-3

That’s three P4 team wins with a 11-10 combined record, a win over maybe the worst FCS team and a FBS team with a losing record

our schedule is embarrassingly weak

We play who we are scheduled to play. We are 5-2 and that’s all that matters at the end of the day. That being said, we will not be making the playoffs with the turd we laid today. And that is also all that matters.

Iowa has “looked good” in 3 games this season. Only in 1 P4 game.

Iowa chooses 25% of their schedule. Year in and year out they choose cupcakes and Iowa State, which many times is a cupcake as well.

A 10-2 Iowa team could make the playoffs if we'd have a good non con win. As it stands this year, 10-2 wont cut it.

You're probably right.

My point is clear. When you schedule cupcakes in the portion of the schedule you can control, then be prepared to be out of playoff contention when you receive your second loss.

Yep, 3-4 easy non con wins, and go 4-4 or 5-3 in conference, gets you 8-9 wins most years. Looks decent enough on the surface but not much chance of winning anything on the big stage.

Not just a problem this year. How soon we forget how many loses in row happened to ranked teams. The only really strong win in the last few seasons was the Vanderbilt Bowl Game win.
