every post i have seen here bemoans the outrageous number of goof ups by iowa but i have to also admit that the gophers played inspired and intense football for all 60 minutes. they reminded me of isu. i have to think this had something to do with taking us out of our comfort zone. This is the first time fleck has beaten iowa in my book that deserves acknowledgment from iowa.

F Minnesota and their D bag coach. The similarity lies in we played a **** game like we always do against ISU, I’ll give you that.

I would normally agree with this but Iowa F'd up so bad today that it's almost impossible to do

Let's see ...

1. Blocked punt inside 20
2. Fumbled punt return to basically set up a game winning FG
3. Hank fumble
4. RB fumble but luckily recovered
5. Interception inside 5 by Heck
6. A WR ricochet interception off VDZ gloves
7. Offsides to give them a TD
8. Missing at least 2 wide open WRs for TDs
9. Hank interception right before half
10. Running on 2nd and 10 into a stacked box every ******* time

Did I miss anything? And we still could have won it...

Credit what, exactly? They're a terrible team. Couldn't do anything offensively, save for one play. Iowa handed them the ball time and time again and they still couldn't score. They simply just made less mistakes. They played Kirk ball circa 2023 and won. It's a **** way to play the game. I wouldn't credit them with anything.

LOL Minnesota did next to nothing offensively and beat us.

Credit to them for what? Playing like crap and scraping out a win b/c the other team was even more awful?

Except a win. Everything you said was accurate and just missed that Kirk got out coached. Nothing more nothing less

Oh Hell No!

Iowa was tossing their running backs around like Kirk's chewing gum wrappers but played the stupidest game I can ever recall.

If you wanna say we got out Iowa-ed ... probably, but that's still just saying we effed up big-time.

Was it the coaches fault that we had a punt blocked and 5 turnovers counting James fumble on the punt return, when we could have refused the gophs penalty and had the ball around the 30 yd line. Plus 2 false starts by our veteran tackle and a defensive off sides on 4TH down when we stopped them. These are players execution not being out coached. We should have won that game around 20-3 minimum if we play even close to a clean game.

Absolutely. Minnesota deserves a ton of credit.

But that's far too reasonable of a perspective for most around here.

Whether Iowa wants to acknowledge Minnesota or not for '23, doesn't matter.

But Iowa does need to acknowledge it as a loss. Iowa did not play well enough to control its own destiny.

And that's one of the few times where I've felt informed enough to openly disagree with KF.

Although I have no problem with him having used it as motivation for the remainder of that season

Exactly! Fleck's team was ready and kicked the Hawks asses up front on both sides of the ball. Row the Boat lost to Purdue 41-15!

Excited Lets Go GIF
this as textbook of beating yourselves as Ive seen in recent memory. Just a comedy of errors.
Hawks clearly lost their edge during the bye week. Need to refocus quickly. Salty bunch from MSN coming Saturday

How many games have we won over the years playing games like that? The answer is a ton. So yes, credit to them for playing mistake free football and letting the other team beat themselves. Ferentz has made a living doing that.

Yes. And the best play they made all day, the play that literally won the game for them, was using a mind meld to induce an Iowa defender on 4th and goal to line up in the neutral zone. So instead of turning the ball over on downs, Minny got another play on which it scored its lone touchdown. Without it, Iowa wins 10-6 despite the plethora of other mistakes. So yes, well done, Minnesota.

I pretty much counted that as a turnover as well. How in the hell can you line up like that, half his body was across the line of scrimmage

Nah, we shat the bed. Simple. See what you want i guess. However, we beat ourselves. Over and over and over. We kept on inching it deeper and deeper till we were shoulder deep within the borderline.

I believe the Goophs recovered James fumble so if we refuse the penalty it’s Gopher ball. Am I missing something?
