I beg to differ. Grunk's QB play alone would have won 2 games PSU has lost.

VaTech is now 6-2 and off to their best start since 2017 (started 2018 4-4, started 2019 5-3, started 2020 4-4, started 2021 4-4, started 2022 2-6, started 2023 4-4, started 2024 5-3 and started 2026 3-5), but you have laughable morons on here who claim that he is not doing a good job in his first year at VaTech??? This is not what the National Media (or local ACC Media) is reporting - quite the opposite, they're saying Franklin is having a great first year (unlike Dr. Clown's hire Door Matt at PSU)..... Luke Reynolds is leading all TEs nationally and is being hailed as the best TE in the Country..... etc....., but all the football savants on here who say Dr. Clown and Door Matt just need more time...... (which is ironically hysterical if it weren't so sad). Gee, could you explain how Chesney was essentially begging for PSU to hire him, but Dr. Clown knew better and he's got UCLA off to a 7-0 start in 1st place in b1g (last undefeated team in the league) and 22 of his 24 starters are Free Agent transfers (a couple of them Franklin recruits from PSU)?????

I've never disputed that Franklin and Kraft could no longer coexist. While a segment of the PSU fanbase has long been entitled and delusional, some of those were powerful voices who encouraged Kraft to needle Franklin. The foundation of the split was established over the timing and scope of the renovation (starting to look like Franklin was correct) and further unraveled over the lack of NIL (pre July 2025 new NIL policy) that saw Franklin lose elite recruits like Luke Wafle. Mix in Sexton being rebuffed when he asked that Franklin should be considered better than the 16th highest paid coach. Other nonsense must have transpired because Kraft and PSU were labeled toxic and it impacted the search.
Despite what the loyal blue and white soldiers want to believe, Sitake was far from the top of the original wish list. What isn't known yet, is why Campbell decided this was the time to move from ISU and PSU was the place to go. It is also possible he didn't know the NIL landscape very well and thought PSU had all the resources Kraft had convinced the Franklin haters he had. It's also very possible, given what he worked with at ISU that Campbell thought he struck the mother lode.
In any event, when you fire a long-time coach, with a winning record, and you promise that things will be better......it isn't going to end well when the program implodes.
What's the future? Average recruiting and roster cash......are we putting our hopes in coaching em up?

James is ten times the coach CMC is.
10x may be an exaggeration ;) but there has never been any metric that proves Campbell is a better coach. Now that all the honest PSU fans have seen Campbell in action, I think everyone (secretly) knows he's not an improvement.
But to be fair. Campbell does sport a mean ball cap, white shoelaces and shares his office space.

If we don’t fire Franklin, keep the prospects, keep the recruits….dont change much. Have Grunk…have Reynolds…have a few of the known defensive players we don’t right now.

At THAT point are we wining more games at this year or less? Ok-STFU, that’s what I thought.

You obviously have no idea what you’re talking about and should refrain from talking especially when you’re not just wrong but also have a low football acumen.
Well, last year he lost to UCLA and Northwestern with, according to everyone including himself, the best roster he had since coaching at PSU. So, you want me to believe that he would have beaten the teams we lost to this year who are all better than either of the two he lost to the previous year with a worse roster?

Then how did we lose to UCLA and Northwestern last year? That actually happened. You remember it right?
You want higher brain function like memory you are looking in the wrong place. Gym teachers are not required to have that critical skill.

Can't remember it so it never happened.

There is a moronic segment of the fan base that would rather criticize Franklin (who isn't even here) rather than understand that we are currently 0-4 in conference play dead last in the b1g. This would seem to radically conflict with Dr. Clown's statement as to the next coach bringing "excellence at the highest level" and one that would "win championships" both of the Conference and National variety.

Not enough money is spent on research to cure stupidity.

There are morons who think BGJ was the greatest.

Not the greatest of all time, but he is clearly (at this time) a top ten coach, I don't think that is debatable to anyone anymore.
No one denies he's a good coach or wasn't a good coach and a decent recruiter. BGJ the Psychologist had and still has other issues. He had to go and voila he was gone; it's just the way it was handled and the timing along with a botched search spelled doom.

I had no problem with the firing, but the timing was Dumb Da Dumb Dumb, Dumb Dumb Dumb.

I don't understand this Ernest Hemingway love affair with BGJ. The guy was a self centered phart that cared about one thing.... BGJ. This guy had no business at Penn State, he was a pipe dream of the BoT and Randy Sandy.

Good grief, let it go already.

Thinking he's a whole lot better than Door Matt is not equivalent to thinking Franklin is the greatest. You don't pay up for both coaching and roster for a serious downgrade in both numbskull. But you keep tilting at windmills with your "some people think Franklin is the greatest" nonsense.
