Now with the game well in hand, Brees decides there is another team on the field and the Giants are actually playing today. He's fv*king horrible and should give up announcing.

Edit: Love the fight in this team. How many starters are out on O both tackles are now backups.

Brees is still better then Vilma. Vilma hates the Giants and acts like he was part of whatever team is playing them.

Good point by Tiki.

JJ's first start being against a good Houston defense is probably not the smartest move.

I was leaning JJ in general, but no rush, let him continue to learn the offense. I'm sure he'll get some plays, and now the passing option should be on the table.

I like Jamis and was never hot or cold on McCarthy. I like Jamis as a back-up though because he has an injury history and hasn't played a mostly full season since 2019. For me he's like Tyrod Taylor - he gives you good games until he's hurt. Jamis is also like Nova and Favre in that when they all press they throw INTs

My gut says that Winston will see the field on Sunday at some point. Not sold on McCarthy at all.

Articles with comments from players who know Habs and also McCarthy say that Habs wants a dual option QB that runs a lot like he had with Ravens/Jackson and like Josh Allen has in Buffalo.. That would be a main reason for a switch. Former McCarthy teammates say he has a very good long ball (which helps run). Oddly enough a reason Ravens cut him lose was because they were weary of the dual threat QB that wins all season long and then flops in playoffs and good defenses. I think pocket passers are still the best way to, go long run.

McCarthy gives them the best shot to run the offense that they had installed w/Dart. Winston's inability to move helped to hinder an already weak run game. McCarthy is at least somewhat mobile and can keep defenses honest. His mobility will be needed on Sunday as that Houston front 7 gets after the QB without having to blitz much and they force a ton of turnovers. However if the OL holds up, McCarthy might be able to beat them deep. Houston's pass defense is bottom 5 in the league so far.

The ability to run is pretty much a prerequisite for QB's these days.

Is Winston hurt now? Because he has played a lot of bad football this year, and then a couple flashes of amazing football.

He's thrown some of the worst balls I've seen at the pro level. Just nowhere near the intended receiver.

Jamis is streaky and he has an injury history. His first game is a throw away because its hard to come into a game and shine sitting on the bench so long. The more reps he got the better he got. A downside is that as a starter teams know how to prepare for him and play. As aspect of a dual threat that Harbaugh likes is that defenses have to respect the run and pass equally. Pass defenders cant just hang back loosey goosey.

True - but there are running QBs and rushing QBs. They all have to be mobile and able to scoot. A guy like Josh Allen though is really part running back. In fact he's currently the leading run TD scorer in NFL with 8 rushing TDs - he has more rushing TDs than any of the RBs. People think of Mahomes as a running QB but he's not a rushing QB and he as 1 TD

They're different QBs, but neither is a high quality option. Maybe McCarthy becomes that, but not right now.

It's been entertaining enough to watch so far, but they've had close wins, losses and a tie against a terrible group of opponents. The hammer may eventually come down.

Both starting tackles and one back up tackle did not practice on Wednesday. I think the always injured Thomas is just being held out of practice to rest a groin injury. Eluemunor should be able to come back this week. This week we're going to need a QB who can move. Jamesis would be a dead man standing still.

I've never seen that called anywhere ever. A RB called for unsportsman like conduct for use of the helmet to contact the defender. How the fv*k do you call that?

Also, Zvada's kicking is becoming a problem.

My only reasoning for that call is the ref's were told to watch for this in regards to Skat before the game. Maybe it's an opposing team we've played already complaining about it, maybe it's the Texans, maybe it's just someone in player safety.

But I can't see the ref's just making that call without being preempted.

Would be nice if Nabers made that catch and we weren't continually asking the rookie kicker to make kicks of 50+, especially when we know he's hit a rut.

Looks like they found a role for Jameis. All short yardage plays, have him do the tush push. Seems to be working out quite well.

End of half defense hasn’t been good the last couple weeks. 3rd quarter needs to be way better than last week.

Might be time to look for a new kicker. Now 5 misses of late.

Complete BS call. All running backs protect themselves from hits.

Yeah Zvada gonna cost them the game. He will get cut and become a top 5 kicker with another team. Meanwhile every FG kicker seems to have season/career longs vs the Giants

Yeah Zvada's done and gone by Monday. They've lost all confidence in him. A distance all NFL teams wouldn't blink to kick a FG from, the Giants punted.

I don’t watch the giants much but didn't they have the lead last game and the defense couldn’t protect the lead. Again they have the lead and they can’t protect the lead.
