I remember when Bielema was at Wisconsin and he fired his first-year offensive line coach after, I believe, TWO games. The result: Wisconsin's offense immediately showed dramatic improvement. I mean in the very next game.

KF is stubborn and inordinately patient--with some exceptions--and those two traits have prevented him from moving beyond the level of good. Maybe he'll do better over the next 25 years.

But it might also prevent him from moving below the level of average some seasons too. Ferentz is a money manager, and he gets you a solid, safe, return. Year in and year out.

How can that be? Oregon has a 2 million dollar NIL QB. I thought all Iowa has to do is pony up the $$$ and we'll never lose again...yet Oregon, Indiana, Michigan, USC...

KF authentically seems like one of the nicest guys. I really think he becomes close friends with all his staff, and it hampers his ability to make the 'shrewd' decisions many coaches/bosses must make. That being said, I do think at least our DC, OC and ST coaches are all good.

there is no OC on the planet who wants to run the prehistoric Iowa offense

maybe a military academy coach?
Army, navy, Air Force run exciting offenses and they adapt DURING their games unlike Iowa that continue to run at 8 man fronts ALL game long with no ability to change up. We could have John Elway for qb and we still are easy as **** to prepare for. In fact opposing coaches could take the week of cause they know exactly how to defend Iowa. 28 years of rinse and repeat.

Ducks have averaged 33.1 points and 423.1 yards per game, but managed only 10 points against the Illini.

Hey, Kirk, you CAN make changes mid-season!

Ridiculous. So you wanted this hand grenade. WHO do you want fired? I mean bring this crap up, then step up with your solution or are you just griping for the sake of griping, like so many here. Try to remember that Oregon was a hot pick by MANY to win this years NATTY, while Iowa was a dark horse to make the playoffs. As of this week which team is closer to that goal, (regardless of our crap show on Saturday).

I'm still far from sold on Lester, as I don't consider success simply being better than the guy before you that happened to be the worst coordinator in history, but let's pump the brakes a little.

Let's say you fire Lester. You can't hire anyone else mid season that's good enough to actually be currently employed somewhere. So you make someone the interim from THIS staff? Who ya pickin, the gift from heaven? Brian had to go mid season because it was already 2 and a half seasons too late and it was beyond rock bottom and a statement needed to be made about ending the insanity.

KF's stubbornness might be the single most important reason for his success.

You're welcome

Where's that fancy Oregon commercial with the ATV drag racing around the field? Haven't seen it this year.
