Analytics my ***, they were lucky to survive that boneheaded decision. They showed the lions head coach after the failed 4th down play and he was shaking his like we should make that every time as if there is no opponent against them

The hawks have had a lot of great FG kickers for the last 12-15 years and they have made their share of big time game winning kicks. But it is bad when it happens in reverse. But I still cant get over the 4 or 5 plays that denied us easy points or gave Minny points. Just hate to see the players lose like that

4th and goal on the 5 earlier in the game and skipped the FG only get stopped.

5 minutes to go, if they punt the ball there’s a decent chance they don’t get it back. Lions have one of the best offenses in football and have a good chance and getting the first and ending the game with a walk off score. Worst case they don’t convert and the packers score leaving enough time for Detroit to counter.

What I didn’t like was the play call, Gibbs was getting hit in the backfield all day

Cmon. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. If its Kirk and he kicks that ball he'd be skewered on here for not having any balls, and you know that's true.

You dont go for 4th and 2 on your own 20 yard line period because even if you get it you are 75 yards from scoring , risk reward is not worth it. Going for it at the 50 is better because if you make it and only gain another 8 yards these kickers can get you a field goal, maybe

I kind of agree based on the situation actually. Punting wouldn't leave them a short field, but not a long one either. Enough time to chew some clock to eliminate your chance to tie or win even if you do get the ball back. Plus remember Detroit had time and opportunity to get 6, but they didn't need to. The way it played out Detroit would have at least been in OT or might have actually pushed for the TD if they needed it. But instead they rolled the clock down for the walk off FG.

Obliviously Green Bay missing the short FG changes everything, but when you think about it , it really was a pretty reasonable gamble.
