if only we had Drew Tate to just throw the ball 30+ times a game

dude had three 300+ passing games in 2004

can't imagine that feeling anymore
I think we're happy to see a QB hit 300 yards over a two game span anymore. Throwing for 300 yards in one game would be like Ferentz upgrading from Choice to Prime at a steakhouse. That's just too much razzle-dazzle for Kirk in his old age.

Time for Williams and McNeil to step up and prove they can be the new lead dogs. Granted, if the OL "blocks" like it did against Minnesota, we could have prime Walter Payton and Barry Sanders back there and it wouldn't matter.

For the record, F--- Wisconsin is #16 in the nation against the run, giving up about 96 yards per game. They have given up 5 rushing touchdowns on the year. (In case you were wondering, Iowa is #5 at 83 YPG and has given up 2 rushing touchdowns this season.)

It sounds like it will be a miserable game to watch for anyone that isn't a fan of the B1G.

Those two dudes better take out life insurance. Like KM soon to be on disabled list. Whisky will be teeing off on those backs.

Ricky would be sitting on the bench because he throws too many interceptions for current, hyper-risk averse Ferentz.
REALLY? Did he sit on the bench for his junior and senior seasons? Who was the coach?, Excuse me, who? Pick six Rick threw SIX pick sixes as a junior throwing 17 tds. and FIFTEEN interceptions and he kept his job, and played much better as a senior with 25tds, and only 6 interceptions. Things are bad enough obviously without making up crazy false narratives.

That’s why I said for “Current hyper-risk averse Ferentz”. Ferentz 15+ years ago was willing to have QBs that took risks. Tate and Stanzi were prime examples of QBs that rewarded us because of their willingness to attempt a risky play. Heck, Petras in 2020 was the last time we’ve had a QB attempt at least 40 passes in a game, and he had 3 interceptions in that one.

Oddly enough if you combined the careers of the best four QBs of Ferentz’s tenure: Banks, Tate, Stanzi, Beathard; you only end up with 4 games where a QB attempted at least 40 passes. Tate with 3 and Beathard with 1.

Not sure he's anymore "risk adverse" as she was then. If you read posts on here Kirk has always kept guys who turned the ball over off the field. Of course that's not true, (as Rickys record proves) but it doesn't stop people from saying that. He played Ricky because his junior and senior season he was clearly the best player.

And be honest. If Tate was on this team, he'd be starting. Regardless of people trying to associate Heck as the next Drew Tate, he has not shown that at all at this point.
