It's pretty clear that it's all about money now

We've been a good program for decades, but haven't made that next step even with being so close many times. More money is the only way this happens.

With Swarm, now terminated, are flight funds the best way to make sure we're getting the best players possible?

Where is all the doctors, lawyers and former NFL donors?
The doctors and lawyers are people who value education, I'm not sure we value football. If I threw a lot of money at IA football, I won't be able to retire as early. I will also remind you that the average student loan debt is around 225K and its around age 30+ that people start making "doctor" money.

IDK. While I agree more money is needed, I am surprised at the level of parity in CF so far this year.

- Lots of Top 10 teams going down. Five Top 25 teams lost to unranked opponents last weekend.

- Big money Oregon has 3 losses. Of course they lost their QB.

- Who predicted UCLA would be undefeated after week 8? No one.

The Hawks don't need to lead the league in NIL - they just need to move off the bottom.

Unfortunately I don't see it happening...unless this guy steps up…🤪

You need a billionaire sugar daddy.

bake sales and beer isn’t going to get it done.
I did a quick Google search. Iowa has a few alumni that have billions. Maybe someone needs to speak with them and ask for some money?

  • Carl Cook (MBA): With an estimated net worth of $10.6 billion, Cook is the wealthiest individual associated with the university. He earned his MBA from the University of Iowa and is the CEO of the Cook Group, a massive medical device manufacturing company co-founded by his parents.
  • Harry Stine (Attended): Iowa’s most famous homegrown agricultural tycoon has a net worth of $9.9 billion. Stine, who made his multi-billion dollar fortune pioneering seed genetics and licensing them through Stine Seed Company, attended the University of Iowa, where he studied engineering.
  • Ted Waitt (Attended): Waitt co-founded Gateway, Inc., one of the most successful direct-to-consumer PC companies of the 1990s. Though he chose to leave the university to launch the business, his subsequent multi-billion dollar fortune places him among the school's most successful former students.

Just to be clear, some here think that it's Beth's job to manufacture billionaire donors for the university.
She needs to be working with the Iowa legislature like Virginia is did to fund NIL in the state.

Adam Shada talked about starting an endowment fund to help the athletic department.

They have on campus concerts that fund NIL.

She needs to be researching what other states have done.

That would be nice, but Virginia has a state fiscal budget of 102 billion, compared to Iowa's 9.65 billion. Endowments only work with a giant pool of money collecting interest, So the interest from that pool needs to be in the ~50 million dollar range.

I don't fully understand the scenario you are putting out there. The university is capped right now by the amount of money they can spend on NIL, and that will continue unless legislation steps in and says differently. If Beth is on record stating they won't be able to cover the proposed ~50 million for NIL funds, then I'd agree, she's not doing their job.

Tax dollars to pay athletes so they can live like kings? Good luck, I wouldn’t vote for anybody that supports that crap.

Agreed. The state of Iowa has 100 bigger priorities that deserve funding than paying athletes and athletic departments.

Passing the Protect College Sports Act would help, but it looks doubtful the House will get around to it this year. Again, priorities.

Half of these people have no idea what they're talking about.
