Marist coming off a nice win at home vs NV. But now the real rounds start. Will Marist come in and be able to put another
3 TDS on the board? Will they secure their first W over Mt Carmel ever? My guess is no. I think Lynch and TP will pitch a shutout and be merciless to the Redhawks. MC 49 Marisst 0

I read on one of these threads that they are referring to it as “New Testament Defense”

The belief is it is due to the fact of being afraid to use the “initials”

We don't need Rice guys to generate message board material.

Oddly its true - Marist football has never beaten Mt Carmel in a Varsity game. I think its 0-12 or 0-13 currently. They had one close playoff game years ago I think.
Marist went through a stretch of playing MC very tough for a 6 year stretch when they had some of there better teams but just could not break through. (All Scores Via Max Preps).

15: MC 21 - Marist 14 Teams opened up season at Soldier Field. Marist finished 5-4 and made a run to 8A title game losing to LA
19: MC 21- Marist 14 - Marist also went 5-4 beating Loyola at Loyola last game of season to make playoffs. Then beat LA again in playoffs at Loyola before losing in the semis to AJ Henning and 8A Champ LWE
20: MC 24- Marist 21 - Shortened Season
21: MC 28- Marist 16 - Another Semi Final loss this time Maine South.

2008 the Redhawks started fast and then Jordan Lynch and the Caravan responded 6 times with no answers

Sheesh they should just cancel the game already and give it to MC.
Marist will throw the kitchen sink at them because they have nothing to lose here but the reality is their defense can't hang with MC's offense for 4 quarters especially with MC getting a week to heal up some battle wounds from the season. The game vs. NV was 35-28 midway through the third Q so they had to play their starters most of the game so they didnt get the rest they may have been hoping for.

Marist will come out strong and out a couple scores up because their offense is a lot better then most expected but after 4 quarters I like MC 49-21.

Marist has some emerging talent in Jake Fleming, the junior quarterback, and his brother Connor Fleming, a sophomore receiver. The Flemings have something surprising in common with the Thies brothers at Fenwick. Pat Fleming, the father of Jake and Connor, is the athletic director at Marist, while Scott Thies, the father of Jake and Tommy, is the AD at Fenwick.

I think Lynch and TP are going to be relentless and make an opening game statement that will get ugly. Rice just pasted Marist big time and MC is not going to let this one get even remotely close to the last game. I do see it as a 40 plus point win for MC - Marist will really need to work on their speed for next season. They also lose 4 of 5 OL starters, TE and starting RB - Hunt on O. D loses quite a bit too. Might need to look at the transfer portal for some Mokena/Frankfort/New Lenox area players

The year they got the closest was 1999. MC started off horribly the first month that season. I was not at the game but was following on here. Marist went up in the 4th 15-14 but MC scored late to win 20-15. Game was at Eckersall.

I would not want to cross the middle or run the post vs MC with Harrington now playing Safety.
