Our first goal today was scored in the most unexpected way. Miami took possession in front of their own goalie. They tried passing it sideways while all of our players ran back to play defense. Except one, Olivia Bent-Cole lingered long enough to deflect the pass into the goal.
Cats are undefeated (9-0) at the start of conference play (although they have one more game against ranked Princeton), and are unanimous #1 in the poll and #1 in RPI. The only other undefeated teams are Maryland and UMass. Ryleigh Heck won the Honda Sport Award (the equivalent of the Heisman for field hockey) before NU's Maddie Zimmer won it the last two seasons.
