It will be considered a moral victory, if Zinn decides to move Rutgers HC replacement clock forward and gives Greg a pink slip for Halloween.
Making this Rutgers loss, the programs gain

Many teams in the B10 with flaws and issues this year. It would’ve been a nice year to do something notable like UCLA and NW (they have a tough schedule too on the face at least IU, Oregon, Iowa, OSU) are attempting to do.

As I said in the preseason. This schedule had 7-5 8-4 written all over it. 3 gimmes 3 new coaching staffs and 3 coaches on the hot seat.

8-4 is the one that’s notable to me because that means winning conference record.

Only Locksley and Wilcox have lasted this long without one. Locksley fired in year 8, Wilcox in year 9. Extra time changed nothing. Btw we’re also the only 3 schools that have never been ranked in the CFP at any time during the season. Following their footsteps isn’t a plan that’s likely to change anything.

The relishing of losses is painful to see. There are volume posters that are obviously glad it was an L. Michigan played Indiana to oT and we had the ball in the 4th tied aginst Michigan.

Would KJ have made a difference if he could have played second half--I think he comes down with one or two of those jump balls.

Yes no moral victory but level headed analsysis shows the D played better and we have two real good backs who helped make this a game. WHy 41 played and no spy on Carr should be asked of johansedn--and if 41 was the spy welll then there was no spy in actuality.

I told the Mich fans sitting in front of me that there are a lot of RU fans rooting for Mich to win so they can get rid of GS.

Don't quit your day job to be a clairvoyant.

Nobody is relishing anything. Need to head the board yahoos (maybe just rutgersal) that this was some sort of a victory today.

KJ out. Boo hoo. Next man up.

D did play better that's a plus. But the offense was putrid.

Actually, 41 looked much improved compared to past games.

Two or three things can be true at the same time.

This is a loss, an overall poor performance, and Greg did nothing to save his job.

Big picture, this was the ideal result. Didn’t get embarrassed, didn’t give GS any ammo to stay past his expiration date. You can just imagine the spin if we’d won, even though as plenty of others have noted, UM is nothing special this year. With the loss today, GS era still well on track to end IMO.

Editing to add: if we *had* won, it would have been worth it for the meltdowns of Michigan Men the world over.

Speaking for myself I was rooting for the team to win and Schiano to get fired. Michigan sucks and so does Schiano. The only reason he’s here now is because of the ridiculous extension. No one believes in him.

Boston College's 47-2 loss to Duke puts our loss to BC in perspective.
We played so many horrible teams this year. Schiano used to beat bad teams. Too bad we are even more pathetic. UMass and BC are horrible. Michigan is terrible. Indiana was ripe for the picking at night home blackout and they are not the same without Medoza. 13-6 against Michigan and now losing 3rd q 10-7 to Minnesota. So many gimmes. A toe away from even losing to putrid maryland

He’s often lost to bad teams too. He’s a terrible football coach.

More importantly AJs weak arm killed us. There were times we had receivers running past the defenders only to have to come back to the ball.
In the first half Rutgers had a fourth down and two yards for a first down near mid field and they punted the football,No focus on winning the game.

Not a moral victory but also not Ash like. Ash like would have been 48-3.
It cannot even be debated: Schiano > Ash. That should never ever be a discussion

But is Schiano good enough and capable of winning B1G games consistently?

The answer is undoubtably no. 6.5 yrs of evidence has him at <25% in the BIG

period. End of story.

Michigan's Offense sucks
I found this, showing the RU D might not deserve too much credit for keeping it close
> Michigan's offense has struggled nationally:
Total offense: 300.6 yards per game, which ranks 127th out of 138 FBS teams
Passing offense: 165.9 yards per game, which ranks 118th nationally.
Rushing offense: 134.7 yards per game, which ranks 107th nationally

In Michigan's 28-21 win over Rutgers on October 31, 2026, the Wolverines totaled 427 yards of offense
Passing: 266 yards (Tommy Carr was 22-of-27 with 1 TD and 0 interceptions)
Rushing: 161 yards on 45 carries with 3 rushing TDs<

>Rutgers offense vs. Michigan

  • Total offense: 249 yards
  • Passing: 123 yards
  • Rushing: 126 yards on 26 carries
  • Michigan's defense held Rutgers to just 249 total yards and 9 first downs, despite Rutgers scoring 21 points.<
the only thing this game show is you're right in saying :
"This is a loss, an overall poor performance, and Greg did nothing to save his job."

Schiano must go, the sooner the better !!!!!!!!!

I'll take a full victory in having not watched the game.

Almost caved when I saw the score at half, but knew this team would just break my heart even if they hung in there.

Why do we keep taking about Ash?? He took over a program that was an inferno, that probably had 10+ starters kicked out before the transfer portal era, 75-80 ships because of sanctions and peanuts for a coaching budget. It’s apples to oranges.

Schiano obviously is better but comparing the eras to me has little value.

One puzzling call of many was calling a timeout with 30 seconds left in the first half with Michigan moving the ball? Fortunately the half ended without them getting another score.

Not saying this specifically about mdk, but this is "their' go to whataboutism. It's like all other coaches are bad, and Rutgers they always go to "what if we hire another Ash, and Greg is a safe option to stay with." It's like a spouse who lived with an abuser, and the spouse remarries another spouse who is not an abuser but has other issues, and the spouse worries about getting another abuser if they leave the second spouse. It's no way to live.

Agree. The Ash era failure is irrelevant. That tenure was doomed from day 1. If we want to give GS credit for something, he runs a clean program and the next coach isn’t taking over an inferno with sanctions and no budget.

Definitely no moral victories yesterday or the remainder of the season for that matter, no matter what happens the rest of the way. Anyone who says “we’re improving and becoming competitive” doesn’t realize that is a further indictment of GS and his coaching. He had spring practice and summer camp to get ready for the season and opened with what should have been two easy wins. But he needs 8 games into the season to start “losing close”and to see improvement. The team should have been ready to go from the opener, and they weren’t.

As many others have said, the UMass loss and the BC loss should be career enders for GS as a head coach. That is not an overstatement.

Whatever happens the rest of the season is meaningless, win or lose. The GS 2.0 experiment is over, or definitely should be.

Damn you hit the nail on the head, now I understand ( I wont say his name). He is an abused spouse, damn ( I won't say his name) will probably be attacking you shortly. No way (I won't say his name) will let you talk about his boo like that😂😂
