At least they take the time to explain how they arrived at their figures.

The Conch Shell Method.

With all of the 4 and 5-star players being paid now, the easiest tell is simply the recruiting figures.

When UGA has 4-5 times as many of these players, you know their budget was far bigger.

Also, most of the big money is from national sponsors to the schoool and players and thats not being reported in most cases.

The needle movers are when you land a Sellers with little or no hype and he goes stud immediately. Very rare though.
I'm not sure I'd put Sellers in the "stud" category yet. He is 18-15 without a bowl win as starting QB, a winning record, but he isn't leading the team to anything noteworthy yet.

I don't know where you are getting the "national sponsors" thing from, and, if that money really exists, why don't you think SC is getting any of it?

Top players want to play at top programs. Some, not all, will take less money (not none, less) to play at a program where they think they will be developed better and have a better chance to play for championships.

From the things I've read, UGA isn't paying anyone as much as we are paying Sellers.

"Yes, virtually all 4-star and 5-star college football recruits and players—especially those at Power 4 programs—are paid significant amounts through a combination of school revenue-sharing and third-party Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) collectives. [1, 2, 3]

How 4 and 5-Star Compensation Works
    • Five-Star Recruits: Virtually every 5-star prospect and the top-tier players at premium positions (such as quarterbacks, offensive tackles, and edge rushers) receive substantial financial compensation. Packages for elite high school recruits and incoming freshmen often start in the hundreds of thousands, with top 5-star quarterbacks or immediate impact players commanding anywhere from $750,000 to over $3 million+ annually, and select high-profile cases reaching even higher. [1, 2, 3]
    • Four-Star Recruits: The vast majority of 4-star players at Power 4 schools receive meaningful cash compensation through institutional revenue-sharing (which allows schools to share up to millions directly with athletes) and NIL deals. Compensation for 4-star prospects typically scales from the low-to-mid six figures ($100,000 to $500,000+) depending on their position and readiness to contribute immediately. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
    • The Power 4 vs. Lower Tiers: Financial backing is heavily concentrated in the Power 4 (SEC, Big Ten, ACC, Big 12). While a 4-star or high-profile player occasionally lands at a Group of Five school, their market value and collective payouts are usually a fraction of what Power 4 programs disburse. [1, 2]"

I place zero credence on The Atlantic reporting. That is clickbait.

Common sense would tell you that UGA amassing 3-4x top recruits versus us would mean the money is vastly different.

*These are estimates of program-controlled roster spending (revenue sharing plus managed NIL), not official school disclosures, and they exclude purely independent national endorsement deals."

Sellers is a stud and if they blue bloods had seen his ability they all would have been after him. After 2024, it was reported that they were all after him. He's an early 1st round NFL QB draft pick.

Clemson hasn't been the same since Elliott and Venables left for HC jobs in 2022. Dabo's tried lots of things, but nothing's work.

As it turns out, both coaches are on the hot seat. Elliott could very well be fired this season. Venables is much less likely to be fired but that could change quickly if they barrel towards a 4-8 finish (still play UF, Ole Miss and Mizzou along with A&M). He is the new Norvell, being protected ONLY buy his buyout.

Even if Dabo only got Elliott back, that may be enough to get them back to top 15ish status.
Dabo would have to humble himself and swallow some of that pride for this to happen.
