See the link below. From the article:

”UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — In advance of the July meeting of Penn State’s Board of Trustees, University leaders are sharing updates on key University initiatives and efforts related to enrollment, the Commonwealth Campuses, budget and tuition, state funding, and the new budget model.”

The got-thisness is palpable.

Would love to know how many of the branch campuses break even

My belief is the university will not be financially healthy without shutting some of them down

Most of those campuses are similar in key ways to the schools we see shutting down and merging. The difference is the branch campuses are propped up by subsidies from the mothership

Agree, definitely have options with the 4 campuses right around Pittsburgh to close 1 and then the Wilkes-Barre Scranton, Hazelton group can lose 1 as well. I know they want to keep the footprint in NW PA but Shenango and Dubois are very small, 2 of the 3 smallest of the branches I believe, they should lose one of those as well.

Now I‘m expecting to see plans to expand these campuses.

These guys read real well from a teleprompter and probably don’t even know most of what they are reading.

Awesome though, the deficit is less than we thought and will continue for the next two years… trust us we got this. Besides everyone is in the same spot. Balanced budget by 2025/26. It’s too big to fail.

The model is not sustainable… wake-up you can’t be charging people $30k (in state) and $50k (out of state) a year for an 4 yr education. Not in this world? The payback is not there anymore.

Penn State: We built it, they will come.
