Could the new format benefit the teams that are highly ranked but don't play for a Conference Championship? Think about it, teams like PSU will enjoy an off week just like the Big 4 Conference Champions, only it will come a week earlier.

If you make the Conference Championship Game and lose, you could be at a bigger disadvantage than having not played in the CCG because now you've lost a week of rest since you still have to play a 1st round game.

Thoughts?

I heard the selection committee has stated that they will not leave out a CCG participate over a non CCG participant. I think that was only limited to the same conference.
So, if PSU does not play in CCG and Indy does, then if PSU is in so is Indy.

Yes, I've heard the same and I agree with the logic of not penalizing the loser of a CCG.

I think it's unlikely that Indiana is in the conference championship game. The most likely scenario is that OSU beats them, OSU and Oregon have a rematch in the championship game. The means the winner is in and probably the #1 seed, the loser is probably the #5 seed. (Although I don't know how the committee would treat a 2 loss OSU team.) That leaves us and Indiana with 1 loss. We will be ranked higher, and I assume will have played OSU better than Indiana does, which makes it hard for us not to get in. Of course, this assumes that we win out, and if we do, we will be ranked higher than we are in today's polls (based on the fact that several of those teams around us will play each other and someone has to lose).

I don't see how a one loss team ranked in the top 10 (maybe top 5) could get left out of the playoff. I just don't know if we get a home game, but I still think it's possible depending on how the other conferences play out.

If IU and PSU are both 11-1, I have to imagine we're both in the playoffs along with Oregon and OSU.

I just think it will depend on how some of the other conferences play out, which is why an OSU blowout of Indiana would make us look like the better of the 2 teams and could really help us if it comes down to that.

Tennessee and UGA still play so there's a 2nd loss for one of them.

Indiana’s schedule is paper thin. The XM guys were pointing out its weakness today. They most likely won’t get the benefit of the doubt over another 1 loss team.

How about we pray 🙏🏻 Indiana pulls a ginormous upset and Ohowihate has 2 losses and on the outside looking in.
I know, wish in one hand and poop in the other and see which one fills up faster.

Can we just MAKE the playoff at this point. After the OSU loss, PSU isn‘t guaranteed diddly

I selected not make the CCG and have the home game. Though, in PSU's case, Franklin's record off a bye week is so sterling that it might be best to play the week before.
