I don't care how much of a fanboy you are of Huggins, you can't defend letting an opponent making run like that in such a quick span of time.

Ohhh Popovich did all the time. Yeah, and Tim Duncan and Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili also aren't out there winning NBA championships every other year for a decade.

There are two guarantees in WVU athletics over the last few years.

The football team tends to hold opponent's offense in check in the 2nd half...while not being able to score 10 points themselves.

And WVU basketball blowing 10 point HT leads with such regularity that it's become the rule rather than the exception.

The real shame is that one coach is rightfully questioned for his team's performance (at least on social media) while the other appears to have a band of mercenaries who attack anyone who asks "why does our basketball team consistently have multi-minute scoring droughts and give up double-digit half time leads?"

This second half has been a complete fvcking joke. The only bigger joke will be the hoard of fellaters who run to defend yet another inept 2nd half performance.......all while being more than willing and eager to criticize a **** performance tomorrow on the football field.

We went about 7-8 straight defensive possessions allowing the white lefty do whatever he wanted with us, with nobody stopping him on his drive and kicks, or his shots. And as we are seeing in the 2nd half, if McNeal and Taz aren't scoring, we aren't winning.

I don't disagree. He waiting too late. After the fourth straight scoring possession, needed a timeout. But that didn't beat us. We just scored all our points in the first 20 minutes. Not good.

I believe Bob threw this game trying to send a message.

Didn't call timeouts. Didn't change defenses. Didn't change players. No intensity from him at all.

Seriously? Huggs hates to lose more than "proving points". That's what the treadmills are for. It was more like he was wanting to see if his guys could right the ship themselves, which they couldn't. We are going to be fine, not great, but good enough. Probably looking at a 9-9 conference record, and hopefully this will be our only hiccup in the OOC schedules and we can get to 20+ wins come March.

And certain coaches in certain positions have the luxury of waiting it out. Huggins doesn't have the best PF of all time to lean on, or a top flight general in Parker, or yet another go-to, possible HOF playmaker, during a midweek, December game.

Wins count more in college, and sacrificing one to "send a message" is absurd, and frankly, spartansstink, grasping at straws.

I think we all saw a game like this coming after watching the first three games. Too many scoring droughts, lack of rebounding, stupid turnovers. It happens. We will find out if this was a hiccup or a trend tomorrow.

And it happens so often that any objective fan cannot, and has not, been comfortable with large HT leads going back to early JC days. Any other coach at WVU would been racked through coals if his basketball team even approached this level of consistent collapses.

This as been a constant for nearly a decade. And Huggins just moseys on, acting pissy during the post-game, blaming players, watching leads CONSTANTLY slip away.

And Tony and Brad and Hoppy will defend and deflect with every breath, citing wins at Walsh and Cinci (like a surgeon citing competency based on his proficiency with 30 year old medical techniques) and success at WVU with another coach's recruits.

I'll stand by this opinion forever: Huggins is one of the most over-rated in-game coaches in the B12, maybe the P5, considering his salary and "name."

He's in the old boy's club of coaching, which I suppose it a good thing. But just like they say with teams, switch out their uniforms and the cache goes away, try to disconnect the coach's name from the team's performance and ask what you see.

Well that was terrible. First half WVU was in command. Second half, lazy loafing on both defense and offense. Suddenly these guys were giving Marquette guys wide open corner shots while also always being blanketed by Marquette guys.

Huggins may have to start adjusting his recruiting or his philosophy about offense. Seems that year after year, it’s always the offensive struggle that seem to kill WVU basketball.

Marquette opened the lane up in the 2nd half, and we didn't react well to it. Kept helping off players, leaving wide open shots. Probably looking ahead, when/if a team does this, we should see more zone (1-3-1). Hopefully this game serves as a teaching moment.

Too often there were only two real scorers on the court! Bob’s rotation needs to be three scorers and one of the point guards at all time! Cottrill is not a five so he and Bridges should be interchangeable! Curry, Johnson/ Johnson same thing! The three bigs can rotate! McNeil, Sherman have to be out there as much as possible!

This team doesn't have a 5.

Teams only need to force McNeil to put the ball on the floor and move left in front of the 3 line. He will either brick it or throw it away or get it stolen.

Sherman 21 points....took him 18 shots to get that
McNeal 12 points....took him 13 shots to get that

My point is that those guys may look like they produced, but when it takes that many shots to produce that many points, usually not going to be a good outcome. Taz was a bit out of control in the 2nd half, and McNeal just doesn't have a quick release shot and could never have that rhythm he needed.

Cottrill is lost on defense and rebounding, but he can score. The other posts can play defense, but can't score. Gabe tried to be too much tonight.

Curry was out of control in the 2nd half, looked good in the 1st half. Maybe Marquette sped us up a bit in the 2nd half and that was a factor. Not to mention the 5-6 layups that our guards missed. I can remember 2 from Taz, 2 from Curry, and one EASY offensive rebound putback that McNeal had that he missed.

It's basketball. Sometimes you lose to teams you think you should best. 31 game season. Win 19 or 20 and you get invited to the dance, where anything can, and usually does happen. No need to fret over one loss.

Where is the post game presser? I want to hear why they looked like a bunch of gassed pansies in the second half.
Marquette made our guys look like elderly men trying to just run the court each possession, much less actually play defense or score, for half the game. Despite all of our issues with Huggins, we should all be able to agree that a team that plays like a bunch of half assed oafs for a whole half of basketball is not a typical issue for him. Unlike times in the past where a 12 point half time lead is eaten away by prolonged WVU scoring droughts, this one was evaporated nearly instantly by just atrocious defense. Again, not a typical issue for Huggins' teams.

Marquette is very young compared to WVU's senior laden roster which is probably why they looked gassed.
