The father was in the truck with him. They've determined a front tire blew out and caused him to cross the center line. Very tragic incident and no need to add extra drama to it.

I’m the linked post, it just said the passenger. I figured it was a friend and they were joyriding

but if was the father…throw the body in a landfill and let it rot

Do you think if the father had been driving the tire wouldn't have blown out? It was an unfortunate accident.

Ummm, if the father let the kid (who had no experience) drive, he (father) was probably drunk…on a spare tire and a high rate of speed, quoted in the article….yes, I fully blame the father. He’s fully to blame.

Mercy me...that is horrific....how on earth does a 13 year old get a truck like this....just such a tragedy
When I was a young man, about 25 years old, I worked for an insurance company as a claim representative. Our company insured a young mother of three children.

A garbage truck driven by a 13 year old boy ran a red light killing her and two of her kids. The garbage truck was privately owned by a man who picked up trash in the area not serviced by the city. The man was uninsured and he was the father of the 13 year old boy. He told me on the morning of the wreck he got up with a bad back and decided to lay on the couch all day. He gave the keys to the boy and told him to run the trash pickup route. The 13 year old looked like a 35 year old and was bigger than an average sized man by a lot. The kind of big Mark Stoops would be scouting out for OT

I explained the law and his liability in the matter and he started yelling he didn't have anything but this piece of property that his boss gave to him in the 1930's. The boss threw in a daughter of another worker and they raised a family but never married. He told me we could have his land and old lady and I told him it doesn't work that way.

The 13 year old was taken to jail from the scene and the next day after I talked to the owner of the truck he was locked up too.

Life offers some strange things and we often shake our head in disbelief. I know I did

You're only as safe as the worst driver on the road.

A parkway near me (the Taconic) is notorious for accidents, and it's real easy to go the wrong way on it. I've had to swerve out of the way of someone going the wrong way. Sure enough in like 2010, some lady went the wrong way with a van full of kids, all perished in an accident.

From the article (or a different one) per the mom…the dad had purchased another vehicle 2 hours away. So he was either trading that truck in or more likely he was buying an additional vehicle and the kid was going to drive the truck back. If that was the case the dad was probably getting the kid “ready” to drive the truck 2 hours back by himself. All while underage and with a spare “junk” tire on it.

Not excusing anything in the slightest just trying to piece together “why”….had the dad survived he should have been charged with however many counts of murder. Unfathomable what he did to his own kid and the poor souls in that van. Just indescribable.

I agree with this. A father puts his kid behind the wheel of a car in poor working order and they are driving full speed (75 mph) on the highway and the spare tire busts and they hit and kill a college golf team. Yes the father is 100% responsible for this accident.
