Couldn’t believe this stat. Kentucky 14-14 against power conference teams under Pope.
Wins: Duke, Louisville, Florida, Tennessee twice, Illinois, Oklahoma twice, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, LSU and Missouri

Losses: Clemson, Ohio State, Alabama x3, Arkansas, Tennessee, Michigan State, Louisville, Ole Miss, Auburn, Georgia, Vanderbilt and Texas

To be fair, Gonzaga should be included, so 15-14.
I did a little research…one of the worst stats of Cal’s last 4 years was his record vs non-conference “non mid-majors”…it was 9-14, with 4 ADDITIONAL losses to mid-majors Richmond, UNCW, St. P’s, and Oakland. Pope, so far, is 4-4, with no losses to mids. So, a much better showing than Cal posted his last 4 years.
Granted, the last week has been awful for Pope, the program, the fans, everybody. But let’s not lose our **** here folks…still a lot of season left.

And this year he has a $22,000,000 roster with players he handpicked, two highly recruited freshmen and the number two transfer portal class and has lost to every team with a pulse they’ve played in pretty pathetic performances so far
Didn’t exactly hand pick. Ostensibly led then failed on Yaxel, Dent, Pierre maybe a couple more. This team is second-third choices and it shows. With the whiffs on elite high schoolers, I see the same problem and likely results next year.

You do realize last year’s team was put together out of the bargain-bin of transfers and wildly exceeded expectations, right?

That number doesn’t mean what you think it means.
You are correct, I would not count last years results. Pope is really 0-2. No wins and losses to Louisville and Michigan state. Do not inflate his record with the bargain-bin roster. Let's just count his record when he was given 20mil to build it.

What does 0-2 this year so far mean?
What does 0-2 this year so far mean?
That a combination of injuries and chemistry problems have caused us to lose one more game than we were predicted to lose so far.

The losses are absolutely concerning, but I peg a lot of that on something going on with team chemistry combined with Pope thinking that Oweh/BG were gonna be major pieces of this team.

I’m not saying this year doesn’t suck, but you can’t use last year’s results as any sort of negative on Pope.

True, really should start judging based on this year forward. That's not looking good at the moment either though.

But that's precisely the main problem. We've got a murderer's row coming up with UNC, Gonaga, Indiana, and St. John's forthcoming. UK loses at least two of those with the way our guys are totally disengaged right now. Then we get Bama as our first SEC game, and it's on the road. We could be looking at 5 to 7 losses by the first week of January. Factor in the putrid recruiting, the lack of chemistry, and the hideous on-the-court play, and what is there to be optimistic about right now?

Right now, 0-4 seems likely.

Fair enough, what were your excuse me this year?

I don’t have any excuses for this year. The team appears to be very poorly constructed to run Pope’s offense, and now both injuries and chemistry are hurting as well.

Did it really exceed expectations? They lost like 14 games and made the sweet 16. If your expectations were way lower than that then you must not think must of pope and UK.

The overall result was basically what was expected. The only thing unexpected was beating some of the teams we beat but that was offset by losing to a bunch of teams we had no business losing to.

Very weak argument concerning this year so far.

Yup because we have whiffed on every HS player we have been after too.

We are losing all 4 of those games as of right now.
