Both the Colts and Pats played with the same balls. The Colts didn't intercept a different ball from what Brady was passing.

I guess that might be funny if I didn't give a crap about the integrity of the NFL. This NFL year will be a complete waste if the Pats win.

Not on offense they didn't.

Yes, cheaters have always existed. That doesn't excuse what the Pats did. It's also their second major infraction, indicating a systematic climate of cheating.

Spare the literal interpretations, please. The basketball equivalent to Colts/Pats would be 1) defensive team gets a steal, 2) play stops, 3) change balls to properly inflated balls, 4) continue game. Rinse and repeat every change of possession.

They had one properly inflated ball, I am sure that one was used for punts and kickoffs.

Interesting, but there's a HUGE difference between the two situations. In basketball, both teams use the same ball. Whereas here only the Patriots were getting the advantage of the deflated balls, whereas the Colts were using properly inflated balls.

Although it could still be an advantage in theory if one team was already used to the irregular level of inflation, kind of like a home field at a high altitude.

Didn't an opposing team send hookers up to Lawerence Taylor's room one night before either a playoff or Superbowl game to wear him down? He balanced it out by doing cocaine. Real winners adapt and overcome.

Actually the NFL officials are responsible for the kicking balls not the teams. They are delivered to the officials and they don't let them out of their sight.

As punishment, I think the Patriots should have to play with OVER-inflated rugby balls during the SuperBowl.

It would be a fair punishment...but they would find another way to put the odds in their favor, and the sports world would have another word to put in front of "gate" and beat like a dead horse. I remember a time when you tuned into Sportscenter for 30 minutes of highlights...now it's like a f'n episode of 60 Minutes with a score ticker on the bottom of the screen.

As one NFL coach told me, "If you ain't cheatin... You ain't tryin"

Every coach, trainer and Player constantly think of ways to tip the competitive balance in their favor. The rules don't mean a thing unless the powers that be have the guts and fortitude to uphold them.

I think that Brady and Billy Check should have to watch the game on T V
