2010 Starting Lineup Reunited

It was 10 years ago at this time where we were about to go on a really fun ride with this group.

I thought it’d be fun to maybe have folks share their favorite moment or moments from that season.

Jon Scheyer playing PG. They won it all bc his basketball IQ was off the charts.

Zoubek emerging as a force to be reckoned with after three underperforming years.

Singler being a beast and taking over games.

Lance playing great defense and getting every rebound that came his way.

Nolan beating everybody off the dribble and scoring at will.

That was one of my favorite teams to watch. They were the definition of “team.”

I remember being such a huge Nolan fan. I trusted him so much with the ball.

When Hayward’s shot was in the air. It seemed like it took seven minutes to get to the backboard. Then it seemed like about a day for it to hit the backboard, hit the rim, and come off. Man, when that shot was in the air and headed to towards the rim, I thought oh no, that looks pretty good. I was so nervous I felt like I was on trial and the jury was about to announce the verdict!!

The emergence of Zoubeck that season cannot be understated.I doubt we win without his presence under the basket.The 3 S'es were maybe the best 3 combo we had other than Laettner,Hurley and Hill.

I went to a few games that season. The first being the UCONN game at the Garden. I fully expected us to lose that game and came away really impressed with that group. You have to understand at that point, we had not been to a final 4 in a long while, UNC had won twice and UCONN was a top 10 or so team if i remember correctly. We handled them really well. That was the first time I thought to myself we can be pretty good. Of course the next time i saw them is when we got smoked against Gtown. That was not fun to be at.

I also saw us dominate MD at home and that was what many folks point to as the turning point in the season. Zoubek was unreal in that game. We would only lose once more after that, ironically to MD at their place.

Scheyers shot to win the game in the ACC finals is one of my favorite shots of all time as a fan.

Was lucky enough to be in Indy for the final 4 and championship. What a ride. Can’t believe it’s been a decade.

One that immediately comes to mind is 82-50 (nuff said).

I recently watched the Duke Baylor 2010 game. WHAT A GAME. The multiple Lance Thomas offensive rebounds then kick it out for a Smith/Scheyer 3 were some of the best Duke plays of the decade. Then Lance Thomas put the exclamation with that tip dunk at the end!
