^^^ I would say A J Reed having 6 HR's in 7 games with 17 rbi is a very pleasant surprise. Others would be Ka'ai Tom hitting .389, and Michael Thomas hitting .350. Reed has been superb on the mound as well, 2-0 with a 1.50 era.
Cousino and Barrett have been solid as expected, and Reida is now up near .300. Conner Heady seems to be settling in at 2b, and I think he will be a dandy for us for the next 3 years.
All in all, 5-2 with all 7 games away from home is not too shabby !

^^^^ Agreed. The bullpen did stumble a bit the first weekend, costing them 2 games, but that can probably be expected in the early season, while they try to figure out who can throw when, and for how long (in what situations). A few guys have shown some signs, though, and the offense has been very good.

Hard to really tell how good we are. The first game was outstanding, but nothing since has really been a good indicator. Eastern Michigan isn't too bad so that will be a decent measuring stick. After that we have Indiana. Then it is pretty much just the SEC. So, it is hard to say exactly how good we are. Still, the indicators are pretty good so far. Our hitting has been outstanding, even against our best opponent. Our starting pitching has been pretty solid. They have had some bumps but have worked their way out of it and put us in pretty good positions. The bullpen is the scary part. No closer. Ryne Combs looks to be a stud, but it is possible he heads to weekday starter. Could be between him and Dwyer. If he sticks in the bullpen I look for him to be used rather frequently. Hopefully Jack comes along and becomes a shut down guy. Salow and Martin look to be the other two guys that Henderson wants to use rather frequently. Not sure what kind of stuff these guys have, but hopefully we see them come around nicely.

The big question I have is whether or not our hitting can continue at such a high level. A lot of years we start out pretty hot and then nose dive in SEC play. This year, we have some guys that are just on fire and the whole team is actually hitting quite well, .312. So, hopefully if things slack off it isn't by much. Of course would like to see Shelby and Bernal start using the stick a little better because those are two guys that might add some power to our lineup. I think that they may just have to see a few more outdoor pitches though. All in all I can't complain with our start. Great weekend this past weekend and looking forward to more baseball.
