The current 2017 is looking better and better by the day. Over the last few months almost every UK committ has received a ratings boost. James Hudson become a 4*, Mac Jones jumped up to a 5.7 3*, Michael Warren moved up to a 5.6 3* and Bryant Koback just went from a 2* to a 5.6 3*. This likely will be a smaller class but should be another great one.

Hudson- 5.8 4* de
Jones- 5.7 3* qb
Wood- 5.6 qb/ath
Warren- 5.6 rb
Koback- 5.6 rb
Yeast- 5.6 ath

Then with guys like Wills, Richardson, Woods, Reip, Lemmons, Davis as legit targets this could be shaping up to another top 25 - 30 class!

Here is a good list Ben Roberts put together:
Other major targets to watch in the class of 2017
JEDRICK WILLS (OL)
: The five-star offensive lineman from Lafayette High School is the highest-rated high school football player from Lexington during the era of online recruiting rankings (according to Rivals.com) and UK’s No. 1 priority for the class of 2017. Wills — a teammate of UK commitments Landon Young and Walker Wood — also has scholarship offers from Alabama, Florida State, Notre Dame and Ohio State, among many others, but Kentucky looks to have a very good shot at his commitment. Rivals.com ranks him as the No. 15 overall player in the class of 2017.

COLE BENTLEY (OL): The Belfry High School standout does not yet have a UK scholarship offer, but he’ll certainly be one of the top in-state players to watch in the class of 2017. Bentley had an impressive showing at the national Army Combine event in Texas in January and got a visit from in-state recruiter and offensive line coach John Schlarman shortly after that event. Rivals ranks him as a three-star prospect.
Player pages: Rivals.com | Scout.com | ESPN.com | 247Sports

QUINTON BOHANNA (DT): A Tennessee native, Bohanna picked up a scholarship offer from UK after attending the program’s junior day in early February and promptly called the Wildcats the favorite in his recruitment. Rivals.com ranks him as a three-star recruit, and 247Sports considers him one of the top 50 defensive tackles nationally in the class of 2017. Bohanna has told Cats Illustrated that he could make an early college decision (in favor of Kentucky).
Player pages: Rivals.com | Scout.com | ESPN.com | 247Sports

TRACE CHRISTIAN (RB): The Cats already have commitments from talented running backs Bryant Koback and Michael Warren for 2017, but they might be able to add one more player at the position. Christian, a 6-foot-1, 210-pounder from Altamonte Springs, Fla., could be UK’s top target to fill that spot. He also has early offers from Miami and N.C. State, and Florida is among the other schools interested. 247Sports ranks him as one of the top 30 running backs in the class.

247 has Warren as a 92 4 star. Not sure why Rivals has him so low (5.6).

Anyone know of our interest in Keyron Catlett? I think he's the WR from Hopkinsville and seems to be one of the top players in the state. Talent not where it was last year, but a handful of d1 guys in state again this year.

Very true. I'd assume the staff is wanting a closer look. That area has been producing D1 guys every year as of late. He might be a back up option right now, but based off of my conversations with him on twitter I would say he would jump on a UK offer right now.

saw some chatter on osu board discussing in state backs and a few thought warren was the best back in the state and most thought he was 2nd or 3rd. i'd say it's just a taste thing... do you like bigger straight line backs or smaller quicker backs or whatever? size, speed, and elusiveness are there to be successful. we got a good one if we can hold on.

That Hudson/Warren duo looks like another steal.

Good class. Let's just hope our on field performance this year helps us land more 4 stars and less 3 stars.

All in all though, I'm happy where we're at.

It's seems very likely at this stage. We're in good position with Paschal and Spence. Plus many of our Top targets are likely to get a bump.

Hey trumpet, how's senior year going
Actually pretty good. Alot of colleges are calling me asking me to take visits. They seem impressed by my accomplishments and all say they really want me. It's like I'm being recruited. (Ironic huh). Still I will definitely stay instate. I still want to be somewhat close to my hometown to go home on weekends. Other than that money talks for schools.

Ah - ha! Music! Of course:) It's about time colleges start supporting music studies. Hopefully the public schools will start doing the same.

So true. At my school our music program is the only thing that is successful. We have to fundraise all of our money. The school barely provides any. All the money goes to the failing football and basketball teams. We need new instruments. Another trombone broke today. Thing is I won't be a music major but had a high ACT and GPA along with AP classes. They said they wanted me to play in the band in college for scholarships. Depending on where I go will decide if I do that.

How do you have recruiting contacts and alabama coaching contacts being 17/18?

In Georgia its against state law to provide equipment with tax money for extra programs. Everyone has to raise their own money, where I am band has a very active booster club, gets all concessions at football games. Football has a booster club that sells ads in programs and gets ticket money the basketball and baseball teams do as well. The non profit sports like golf, tennis, track and wrestling for the most part are supported by the football booster club. I would be surprised if Kentucy allowed tax money to be spent on extra curricular activities other than coaches and director salaries.

So I'm assuming Provitt would not count against our limits this year since he was in the 2015 class? Man, I really hope he ends up here, really good looking prospect that I know the staff really wanted.

Assuming we are able to get to a bowl game and finish strong(a big assumption) I believe this class could be as strong as the 2014 class in # of 4 stars. If we add in Wills as a 5 star, should be another top 20-25 class.

He will count against your limit, it was a rule put in to discourage signing borderline kids who may not qualify.

Antique show. He stopped by meeting some family and they decided to come to our antique show. My friend who is from Alabama introduced me.

Exactly, Provitt signed a LOI, but didn't enroll. So, in recruiting terms that means he was included in the SEC 25 LOI limit, but since he didn't enroll he wasn't counted as an initial counter according to NCAA rules.
Initial counters are counted in August each year after classes have started.

Thanks for clearing that up grumpy and vikingcat.

Cats have shored up the oline and are now moving to dline - Bohanna sounds like a hard to find versatile dline guy.

Yep, @ 6'4, Bohanna is reportedly a pretty lean 310 pounder with an 83 inch wing span. Him & Hudson (4 star) are a good start on the DLine.

Also, since the OP, Mac Jones has been bumped up to 4 star status.

If we get Wills, our O line is going to be special in a couple of years.
